Running a cassette on a singlespeed with an ever-so-slightly slack chain is a bit silly... if the chain shifts onto a different sprocket, you'll break something. I bent the dropouts on my beater doing this - but it was only a beater, not a Fondriest.
With a quick release hub fitted at a 'reasonable' tension, it just pulls the wheel forward if it hops up, down a gear.

I've been trying to i.d. this rather nice 1950s frame. Pics here:

Best guess so far is a H.E. Green. Initially I was thinking it may be a Gillott but some marque experts have pointed me toward Green.
Any others ideas?
