You guys keeping track of the Garden Bridge? I thought it might have been stopped, but an email has just gone around our office (next to ITV) about the building work that's going to close of a bit of the South Bank for the next 2 years...
Meanwhile, it won't be open to cyclists, closed overnight and a day a month for corporate entertainment. ridiculous.

You can cut through Russel square , and then through the bloomsbury cycle lane to goodge street and then to marble arch pretty much. Then it's a main road all the way to SheBu roundabout (or cut through Hyde Park to high street Ken), but you dodge the zone 1 madness.
Mands is right too - embankment is a lovely ride when the weather is like this!

The car park in Richmond Park is a bit gritty, so if you've got your precious sunday best bike with you, then perhaps you don't want to have your cosmic carbones to come into contact with anything other than the unsullied black top of the RP circuit.
Or maybe it's just so people can see your bike from slightly further away.

I spend a fair few evenings in summer doing laps there - clockwise, so on the last corner going towards Roehampton gate, the rest of London hoves into view. I found the cars as considerate as they are around Regent's, more aware of cyclists than any other spot in London, and I didn't see too much ill tempered behaviour.
As often is the way, a minority (of both drivers and cyclists) seem to be at the heart of the problem.
And Tom Hodgkinson is trolling - why bother getting worked up, it's so clearly ridiculous, it's not even worth thinking about.

9 Hours. 9 hours to go from the very worrying rise of IS and the slaughter of hundreds of muslims and non muslims in Syria and Iraq, torture and the imposition of radiacal sharia law to discussions about Halal meat, and then back to Israel. Surely we could keep the discussions separate?
I remember back when I was in university (politics), we could derail a seminar by bringing up Iraq - didn't matter if it was political economy, research methods, or even the philosophy seminars - you mention iraq and seminar derailed for the rest of the session. Much easier than discussing the matter at hand.

Have you guys seen the Malky Mackay quotes? racism, sexism, and homophobia... the guy is a triple threat. Looking foward to seeing him resurface on I'm A Celebrity ten years from now. The daily fail link within the below includes details of what he actually said, but I'm loathe to link to them directly.

I'm not sure if EdwardZ is being racist, although certainly he is a hardline zionist. Just because there's pretty universal disagreement with his views on this thread (and in general I think), does it not set a dubious precedent to ban someone because no one likes his views? If it's for another comment I haven't seen, then I apologize.

I can't get on to the last page, so apologies if this was already posted, but John Oliver's bit on the militarization of the police is fantastic

It starts at 2 years... and the guy got 18 months. Absolutely ridiculous
