tubeless woes.
went tubeless for this years CX calendar which so far has resulted in 3 DNF from 5 races with rear tyre flats. The tyre in question is a Maxxis Mud Wrestler which for 2 races was paired with a new cheap Chinese rim (prime from chainreaction) After the second failure i noticed the rim was damaged so bought a kinlin rim from cycleclinic and the sealant Malcolm recommends. Im 89kg and inflated the tyre to 25 psi, it went flat after 40 minutes of racing.
My first question is does sealant need time to cure, it was only mounted yesterday with no test ride and ad hoc spinning during the day -
looking for advice or opinions on my proposed CX wheelset now i have upgraded to a disc bike for the coming CX season, i'm a 88 kg rider and pack finisher in the local leagues. My planned build is 32h Stans Iron Cross, Sapim race spokes laced 3x to D771 and 772 hubs. I'm expecting the build to weigh 1640g and the cost to be £259

evening. I want to build 2 spare wheels for cx racing, the bikes are running shimano 10 speed. The best value rear hub i'm thinking is a shimano 105 10 speed at £30 each. The plan is to build with Kinlin XR22T rims and sapin race spokes. Total for the 2 wheels will be around £185, can you do better. I would have preferred a lower spoke count but can not find an appropriate rear hub

@mdcc_tester,
thanks for all the help so far
so ive rebuilt the Archetype rim with sapim race spokes radially with a reading off 25 on the parks tension meter (sorry dont have a conversion chart). wheel never pinged on its first ride until at 45 miles i went over a cattle grid at high speed and it pinged like a symphonic orchestra, do i still need more tension? thanks for the responses. did stress the spokes in pairs and by pressing down on the rim with the hub on a block of wood, its true that the spokes look unnaturally bent at the point of entering the nipples than any other wheels ive owned. This is way i suggested radial lacing has i though this may help alining the spokes with the nipples.
bought a tension meter which was ok but not perfect -

morning.
after the advice sought here I built up archetype rims 28r 24f with Sapim Race Double Butted 14/16G spokes with dura ace hubs, also bought a parks tension meter. Anyway I'm happy with the front with a deflection score of 20 (dose make the tension 94 as the spokes are 1.8mm?)
I'm more concerned with the rear wheel which has drive side spokes which as a deflection score of 25 (tension 167) and non drive side deflection 20 (tension 94)
the none drive spokes fell like they need more tension while the drive side feel maxed out, the dish is already pulled to the non drive side by 1mm and on a very short test drive they pinged.
could I ask if I'm reading the chart correctly and the tension is what you would expect?edit novice builder second attempt at wheel building

afternoon all
I'm looking to upgrade my ultegra 6800 wheels as I find tyre fitting in the garage difficult and on the road almost impossible (tried different tyres).
I'm 90kg rider and the wheelset will be used for fast club runs. ive got some dura ace 9000 24f 28r hubs in my evans basket (with a nice discount code) so I'm looking for advice on rims. reading this thread Archetypes are the popular choice but are they my best option?
thanks inadvance
dennisedit on spokes
planning to use sapim laser front and NDS rear and sapim race DS rear as advised by thecycleclinic
Afternoon all. Has a wanabe wheel builder who has built 5 pairs of wheels with the help of this forum a club member gave me a pair of hubs from a set off Syncros RL1.0 28mm carbon wheels where the rims where toasted, unfortunately i never got the chance to measure the ERD and spoke lengths which would have helped me calculate the lenght of the new spokes. These are going to be paired with DTswiss RR411 with a ERD of 601. This will also be my first build with straight pull spokes. Ive measured the hubs specs which are re branded DTswiss hubs , Which spoke calculator for straight pull spokes??
