Thing is, he is also mates with Putin and happily supporting suppressing people's rights. I see people arming themselves now on USA groups I'm on due to the agenda of his republican party.
So if the USA has decided it's irredeemably ugly, things will get ugly I fear. For the small people. Not the oligarchs.
(Though some rep states actually are reasonable socially liberal cos usa big etc.)

I didn't know they were always that bad.
If one team of supporters just wants to watch a game and the other team is known to constantly get violent and outright attack others it's not exactly the same two sides...
It's hard to tell if people who got attacked were all really just walking back (maybe not physically attack but monitor) or many were continuing the shit behaviour and residents rightly felt threatened.
The people talking to Dutch media of course were pleasant. I mean, zero story in "hooligans get chased out of area" also the hooligans are hopefully all arrested and fined / deported.
If people are scared they may just not always defend themselves with "can you please go thank you" and things get heated but what do you expect? Some media really equates that with premeditated bigotry?
Sheesh. I didn't see that sorta crap on Dutch news but I haven't dug too much.
-
Ah yeah fair enough. Sorry my bad. It was more people got attacked just getting to the hotel from the subway exits.
First thing my son said was "the Israel fans rioted nobody mentioned that" (kinda true) I go on Dutch media and find out people just getting out of subway stations got attacked too. (not on media)
I have to assume those fans didn't lie and honestly just minded their own business.
-
Not denying the shit behaviour of some of the Israel fans. Police was at high alert and had to keep the peace. But not sure where I'm defending the Israel fans that rioted?
One Israel fan who was attacked and spoke to Dutch media did acknowledge some of the fans burned Palestine flags and sang horrible songs.
Assuming that person was just minding their own business not walking around with anti Palestine symbols, just trying to get to the hotel, not acting like an asshole then idk maybe it goes a bit far?
Unless the Israel fans are vastly problematic and cause shit everywhere. I don't know their general behaviour.
Cos then that person really needs to ask themselves the question of why are they hanging out with mostly problematic shits.
-
I read about that incident in Dutch in Dutch news.
People were waiting for the Israel fans. They exited subway stations and were attacked by people who drive off on scooters.
It wasn't a conflict between fans, of course Dutch police was prepared for that. So while some of the Israel fans burned flags and sang awful songs, that isn't the whole story either.

Edge of Darkness - BBC series from Long Ago.
The plot is simple enough, man wants to find out why his daughter died, security services get involved, there are political interests etc. The performances are excellent and the two main leads are super.
The "two guys" characters are also excellent, along with some great passive aggressive remarks.

Bullying people is easy, going hard on economic issues with corporations buying politics / the way international finance works / not owning the media landscape so getting constant attacks is hard.
There is a reason Labour is a bit meh too on some issues, if they say anything out loud they will be attacked like mad. Or the stock market / bond markets will bury them.
-
With all the chat on the economy, the Trump republican party going all out on bullying minorities is not cool.
They can make the arguments on the economy without that. But they didn't.
And that is not on the democrats. Of course this is great, more division, trump reps won't fix housing etc. either and then in a few years we might get Elon musk or Peter Thiel for president. 🤢

Not excusing it, but the Dems also don't have a fantastic track record. NAFTA and all that. And they are also very reliant on donations, Pelosi is linked to some dodgy shares wealth and all that.
Of course, thinking the Reps are not heavily reliant on donations / bought or that the current Reps are going to fix any of this is not backed by data.
If they both suck, perhaps at least vote for the party that isn't outright going to ban people's rights and wants to end democracy as much as possible.

Daughters of Darkness - 1971
A vampire movie with a vampire that can control people and is wanting virgins and or love...but it's a woman for a change. Some loose plot threads, some so-so acting from some actors but it looks great. The hotel it is filmed in (mostly empty during off-season) also works very well as a location.
The acting of Delphine Seyrig as Erzsébet Báthory is excellent :)
For more female character focused vampire movies: Byzantium / A girl who walks alone at night.

Also loved her being part of the ‘Conservatism in Crisis’ pamphlet. This mentioned that a neurodiversity diagnosed used to be about knowing yourself, but these days it is just an advantage to have in the workplace.

I agree it's not all good in other countries either. The Netherlands is another example of no flexibility whereas Spain is far more relaxed and willing to give people a chance.
During Brexit it was also clear there was little interest in Brits in mainland Europe from the uk government...like "tough shit" everyone.
However as the man already has a record of paperwork it's potentially a clear violation of what was agreed and while labour inherited an underfunded and understaffed home office I think this isn't cool. Had he not travelled maybe he would have had time to wait on the appeal but the border control system has 0 chill.
Anyway hope you are getting sorted, French bureaucracy is legendary and not for good reasons! :)

I know a trans woman in the USA in Ohio. Fun times for her as you can imagine.
This shitfuckery of bullying women/minorities is really a disgrace. Basically male toxic minority usa christians/controlling sad men and techbros driving policy.
While ordinary reps/dems agree on a lot of issues such as the economy/big corps having too much power/healthcare corruption.
But of course, the backers of Trump are Big Money and the backers of the Dems too, in that sense nobody has a great choice.
Sometimes it makes sense, there was an article in the guardian where an area was hit by trade tariffs with China. So one women just wanted those gone, but the rest of the rep voters came across as religious fruits and nuts and gettheillegals and all the classic tropes.
His character is also the only cool fictional golf playing character I know of.
The speech the character gave reminded us of the space farming techdudebros...the more things change etc.
The movie sounds like just action and no depth also Mel Gibson can gtfo.
