A quick helpful heads up for anybody considering a Volare. I have a 58 DISC. 32mm GP5000 fit on 21mm internal rims. Not too tight. Spoke key in tools just incase I broke one always.

Don't know what's going on here. If I was in London I'd already own them.

Stick out for Volare. Half price solution to Fairlight IMHO. I have a disc one and it's cornering and uphill are brilliant. It is slightly slower on flat than my 853 Bob Jackson Olympus rim brake though. Discs, more spokes.......one step forward one step back. My Volare with a 6.5/10 paint was 300 on eBay for the frame. Powder Coat next year. PS. I can get 30mm gp5000 in on a 21mm internal rim, even squeeze a 32 for a laugh

One thing about discs. We were told that less spokes are better. Rim brake wheels either 16 / 20 etc. Now it's OK to have many more. So were we lied too, was that old 32 spoke set of training wheels fine all along? Was any 1600g set of wheels fine no matter how many spokes? Im ignoring aero for the sake of this discussion.

I have an 853 disc Volare. 28mm max tyres,maybe 30 but besides that a super stiff fine handling thing.

I have a few Campagnolo cranks. Ultra and Power Torque. IMHO these Power Torque ones are less prone to agro. Bearings seem to be less likely to get soaked. So easy to remove too. Just my experience. Bargain. GLWS

Agreed. I had a Koga fork repaired at Ellis 10 years ago or so, perfect.
I have lugged BJ Olyimpus and a curly stay one. Love them but they don't even get a second glance nowadays. Sad.

There is a Video on YT Ellis Briggs channel where he has a moan about building modern stuff. Discs etc. I'm sure old frame builders felt the same about braze ons et all. The Rourke Bob Jacksons have seen the way forward, neo retro gravel etc. Check FB for details
