I was planning on upgrading some bits on the red Bike Friday tandem and giving it a fresh coat of paint. Then this came up for sale. It was priced reasonably for what it is and seemed like a great way do the refurb, without loosing the ability to ride a tandem.

Came across these lovely Groovy Luv handle bars on a local forum a couple of days ago and immediately jumped on them. I had planned on using both for the tandem, but when I reached out to the seller one of them was already sold. I did purchase the remaining (steel) one, only to come to the conclusion that there is now way to fit it to the single bolt stem I had just purchased for the tandem. So change of plans, the bars are now on my fatbike.

That explains why there were straps on the rear on mine too. My wife wasn't too happy with them so I immediately binned them. Guess I will have to dive in now and retrieve them.

Very cool looking thing! I am considering buying a crank shortener for my tandem. You aren't using one right? How does that work out for your little one?

I actually fitted a bracket for a Thule Ride Along rear seat and an axle hanger for a Thule Chariot since posting the picture above, so mine does 2 kids now. 3 sounds awesome!

Assuming you are referring to the Bike Friday one, as I have two (which is one to much). The idea behind it is you can adapt it to pretty much any rider, so that I can ride with either my wife or my daughter as a stoker. Also, the frame comes apart, so you can pack it up really small.

I don't think I have ever shared the Kestrel all finished up. Might be one of my all time favorites.

Puzzle time. If done correctly, this should turn into a bike (or so the seller said).

The more I look at it, the more I can appreciate it. Etap seems to make sense on this. The frame would look at lot nicer if they would get a nice logo IMHO.

Thanks for the offer! But to be honest I have to many things on my mind right now, bike builds among others, to take on another project.

I still haven't finished the tandem build. Also, I am hoping (trying) to buy this. And finally I am thinking of buying a bamboo frame for these guys.

Such a pitty they didn't leave it raw. Doesn't look nearly as nice in red.

Plan is to keep it as it is, for a change. Pretty sure I will fail at that though. So who knows ;)

Most silly bike purchase ever

Not sure this is the right place to put this, but I think it looks fun. Maybe not on trend, but who cares. PEZ cycling did a lot of these kind of builds many years ago and I always found them to be inspiring.

A bike store nearby had these up for sale for next to nothing. As usual I couldn't resist.

This might turn into one of those builds that starts with a single component.
