I think you are over complicating things. Just put it together with the ferule you have and see what it does.

I just checked my parts bin and all the step down ferules I found have an outer diameter of around 4mm at the point where they enter the cable stop. I used to buy and sell all sorts of frames, including frames with your type of cable stop, so I am pretty sure these were the ones used. If I recall correctly these ferrules will require your to strip modern cables to enter the ferule.

Why is it a problem that the outer ferule diameter is smaller than the inner diameter of the cable guide? The ferule will be under tension against the cable guide, so it doesn't need to be a tight fit. Or am I missing something?

These wheels would look amazing on this frame. Locating a 700c seems like a more sensible option.

Never been a big fan of AX. Modolo Kronos on the other hand. Not exactly easy to come by though. Unless you are willing to pay crazy prices.

New wheel day. Purchased recently on Ebay for a steal at 150 euro. They seem to be in good condition. Fitting the tires with Effetto was super easy.

There a ton a ton of different sizes for these around. I ended up buying pretty much every size on Ebay before finding the size I needed for mine.

Road pedals are overrated IMHO. I switched to spd on all bikes last year so I could use the same shoes on all my bikes, mountain and road. Best descission ever.

Some updates to the fat bike. Added some weight on the bars. Spared some on the pedals. Also added some comfort.

If by any chance you ever get tired of those Spinergy wheels (or the HED ones), I would be happy to take them of your hands. I used to have a pair, but I sold mine as part of a complete bike. Still think they look great in my Kestrel though.

Don't see why that wouldn't be a good idea.

Picked up this amazing piece of engineering tonight. It's a Rotor RS4 crankset. Crazy heavy and does all sorts of crazy stuff. I will try and shoot a short film tomorrow to show how it works.

Thinking of putting it on the Kestrel. I also have non aero chainrings to go with it, which will probably look better.

I don't know to be honest, but I guess that is how it works. Will see how it works when (and if) it turns up.
