^ I have no problem with him charging relatively high prices for nice frames- it's the deplorable behaviour of listing an item as 'DD AMAZING PINARELLO PANTOGRAPHED CAMPAGNOLO STRADA CHAINSET 52/40 170' with the chainset as the accompanying picture, and then letting the bidder know they are only bidding on the seatpin of the groupset in the description that gets me.
Unless it is a mistake and he means to say 'only bidding on the chainset', this sort of thing really riles me..
I'm guessing it's a mistake, if not then it is indeed sharp practice.
but you could always ask the seller a question.

^ I imagine he spends a lot of time in the pub boasting about the killing he's making flogging old bikes to mugs.
Not wholly defending him, but I bought my Eddy Merckx extra corsa from him couple of years ago for £250 and picked it up from him. Nice guy sat in his garden drinking tea and talking bikes and his sons aim to be a pro rider.
He gets his stuff from Holland from bike shops from old racers from the 80's 90's that trade in their racers for Dutchie style bikes. His prices have gone up a lot since then mind.
I too know this chap and have been 'round his place many a time and he's always been good to me, so much so that he even let's me rummage around his garden and basement for any bits i desire 'till the cows come home.
It's true that he does want your dosh but then that's why you're potentially doing business with him in the first place.
How Silly Suffolk summed him up is indeed the impression he gives off but if you know your stuff and stand firm you'll come away with no worse a deal than from anywhere else these days in my opinion.
As for his prices going up most people are jacking theirs up as well and it's not just in the used bike parts world either, anything old and quality seems to cost a mint these days.
However there is one rude, old curmudgeon out there that leaves a sour taste in the mouth but that's another story...

It's obviously a different but identical shaped Colnago on his flickr. Check the back of the seat tube; the one he's selling has 2 bolts sticking out, whereas the dented frame only has 1.
Also the extended part of the seat tube appears to be a tad longer and there is a slight mark on the downtube in the flickr image.

**Re-posting this here because it sinks like a stone in the want ads.
Track frame 61 C-C 1980's -90's**
As per title, i require a track frame size 61cm center to center from the era 1980's to 1990's can be steel or Alu.
Italian/Euro are my preferred makers although may consider Brit frame if it had that special something about it.

I can't say whether or not it's a bona fide Cinelli.
Two things to mention however are that Cinelli did make their own lugs usually stamped with a 'C' on them however that's not to rule this one out. Also i don't think cheapo bike frames were supplied with Cinelli bottom bracket shells so this is a good point.

You have no idea how much I want that BJ, but I just bought a fucking bike the other day. If someone wants to buy this bad boy for what I paid, let me know!

I've Googled 'Ashes57' and all i get are references to urban wall daubings?
Size, specs etc?

The frame here is not a 61 but a 59 or maybe a 60 as Merckx frames were made c-c and not c-t. With a 58 top-tube it could be either.
Usually i find with old steel frames that if someone quotes center to top that if you subtract 10mm you will find out what it is center to center. that is of course if it employs the usual 25mm diameter top tube. i reckon this nice Merckx is a 60cm c-c. And yes i prefer the way Continentals measure their frames.

Simplex, 61 versus 59cm - would you really know the difference?
Just asking, I am looking and looking for a 60cm, and wonder every time I see a 58, 59, 61 or whatever... but for some reason I have got stuck on the idea of a 60cm.
Yes, i would know the difference. i've built up 61cm and 60cm frames and had them stood side by side and there is a noticable visual difference in height.
If i have a Campag C-record aero seatpost in a 61cm frame for optimum leg extension it will be set at the max limit line, i'd rather not pull it out a centimeter past that. -
