There's even an (un)official acronym for what you just did.
http://nethack.wikia.com/wiki/Yet_Another_Stupid_Death
The whole thing is just endless death for me. I once got cursed to death by some god for mixing up my direction keys and accidentally kicking my puppy :(
Oh great, already did the door kicking one. I will attempt to avoid stepping on my pet.

On a similar note - anyone play Kingdom of Loathing?
http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/static.php?id=whatiskolThis, I have to try.

I fucking love nethack. I'm terrible at it, obviously, everybody is, but my god it is so. Much. Fun.
The "best" bits are the ones where you encounter your own ghost in some godforsaken dungeon full of bees and get trapped by the ghost and your stupid familiar and then end up stung to death by the same bees that got you the first time.
Started playing on nethack.alt.org - best thing is having the session saved and ready for when you next have telnet. Oh, and being able to watch other games in progress. I wonder if there's a good nethack mobile client.
Not many interesting demises yet, yesterday I ate a newt corpse and died of food poisoning.

Microcosm has moved office, which means we no longer need our beloved Rancilio Silvia and cafe grinder.
They're both in working order, though the Rancilio could probably do with a de-scale (tamp & portafilter are included although not shown in the photo).
If you're interested, let Velocio or myself know... they can be picked up from near Waterloo for £100. The main idea is to send them to a good home with minimal hassle, hence the price.

Events are in my view the most under appreciated functionality of all community platforms, so i hope microcosm can boss them.
Reoccuring events - for instance Thursdays Hour of Power around Hydepark happens every week. its really annoying for administrators to have to repost it each time.
Guest list management.. each time it reoccurs the guest list should clear or give the admin the ablity to manually clear it.
Ticketing.. functionality that prevents someone from confirming event attendance before they've ponied up some cash.. probably though paypal or some other payment portal
We have a few things planned for the events feature - some way to manage recurring events would be nice. Ticketing too.

I was just thinking, could you have an option for subscriptions to be either - 'all new posts'
As in, all new posts in a single conversation/event, like subscriptions work now? (am currently adding this feature).
'only on a new thread'.
So you could subscribe to an entire microcosm (e.g. Classifieds) and get notified of any new items that are created in it? (am not currently adding this feature, but sounds like a good idea).
I'm working on the subscriptions code as we speak, so let me know what you don't like about the current system too.

https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/david-cameron-stop-u-k-internet-censorship-of-pornography
Take your pick... though I think calling it censorship makes it too easy to shrug off (the argument would be "just turn the filter off"). It's more the casual erosion of an open default I don't like.

I am writing to you to express deep concern at the opt-out ISP web content filter that has been proposed by the government.
The Open Rights Group has published an article with an indication of the types of content that will be blocked by this filter: https://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/2013/sleepwalking-into-censorship
It is my belief that filtering such content as "web forums" and "esoteric content" by default would be an extreme measure and one that is over-reaching.
I understand the intent of this proposal, since protecting children online is a matter of great importance.
However, if an ISP web content filter is to be implemented, I believe it should apply to a narrower jurisdiction than is set out in the list published by the Open Rights Group.
I look forward to your response on this matter.

I'll be taking this up with my MP and anyone else whose ear I can bend. And getting involved with ORG.
Edit: using this to send an email, but I'll follow up with a letter if no reply - http://www.writetothem.com/
This is excellent news, I can now go back to implementing signatures.
