Bought a pair of PT Winter tights in the Brum Sample Sale last year – after only 5/6 rides (I only recently got around to using them) the chamois stitching has come away completely in several places, and the crotch has (weirdly) started slipping down during rides. They were perfect in every way, but no longer. Is it worth me emailing Rapha and pleading for a repair/exchange?
Only washed them on delicates, Woolite, hung to dry – same treatment I've given all my other rapha gear. Much sad, very baggy, so crotch.

@monkdagola If you (or your friend) have any questions about sizing then holler. I have EU50 Bont Riots, 50 Wide Shimano RC7 and these Empires at the moment, and only the Riots work for me – the other two don't provide enough lateral cleat adjustment to get the q factor right. The Riots are noticeably wider in the forefoot and longer, too....

I'll take some when I get home :)

@dubtap - I almost had the same reaction when I my front Pro One decided to throw up all over me in its first week, but they're growing on me now. That first massive fuckpuncture didn't seal completely, but I was able to ride it in the other 8 miles regardless after giving it a quick top up pump half-way in, and a bit of superglue and a TipTop patch fixed that within 10 mins once I was at the office. On other rides (around country roads with recently cut spikey hedges no less) I've got home to find that one or both tires had multiple thorns in them – but I just didn't notice. I suspect I would have been two tubes down and enjoying a long walk if I'd been riding tubes.
@amey Alas, poor Brian. I knew him well.

I had the cheap Strada LGGs (60tpi?) for a good few months and really liked them. Reasonable grip, they didn't feel draggy, not too puncturey (better than Gatorskins/4 Seasons for me) and cheap. Full disclosure: the worst I subjected them to was the occasional gravel path; they spent most of their life on shitty London/Kent roads. I only stopped using them because the bike they were on died a death.

@mikec I'm also a serial wheel trasher - the only ones I've had which are still fine are miche rg2 hubs (decent bracing angles), archetypes and 32 dt Alpine iii spokes built by arup. Recently had a disc set built by @thecycleclinic also which are great so far despite some horrific pothole action - dt 350 hubs, 32 x sapim force spokes and kinlin rims. I think I'll struggle to kill these too, and I'm fairly convinced that it's the beefier triple butted spokes making the difference in both cases ....

BIGFOOTUPDATE: Size 50 Empires are the most comfy, yet stiff, things my feet have ever encountered. Sadly, though, they're useless to me as you can't get the cleats inboard enough to get the inside of the shoe (around the ball of my feet) to not rub the cranks - there's dramatically less lateral adjustment on the Giros than on the size 50 Bont Riots. I didn't fancy having to install axle extensions, so they're going back or getting sold in the classifieds.
Next stop: Shimano RC7 in size 50 wide. I'm hoping these will be a tad longer than the previous Shimano 50 shoes I've encountered. And now that they've arrived, they are. Not by much, but the extra room in the toebox means that these should be a goer. Now to see if we can get the cleats in the right place...

Ha, cheers @PhilDAS. I genuinely never noticed, and I've attached enough of the things. You learn something new every day.
Also: I've updated the post @onyerbike. Sorry for misleading infos.

Agh. My mind is melting. Polly loggies.
Right, the chap who was next in line for the GP4000S got back to me this am. Sorry @user53901!
6800 brake is GAWN, too. Soz @onyerbike. For reference, it can be either front or rear. Totes interchangeable. You just need to spin the pad holders around to face the right direction. (At least that was what I've been doing.)

Oooh! Well, I now have some size 50 Empires on the way, so fingers crossed they fit. Thanks for the tip @nutsjesmoar. :)
I looked at Empires previously but I couldn't find any size 50s at a decent price in the UK...

Going by this chart, EU50 Riots are between 8 and 10 mm longer than all the other Bonts: http://www.bontcycling.com/items/support/sizeChart.html

Ooh, good shout. I might just order a pair and see how they stack up.
And thanks for the offer, chap. I have pairs of Shimano MTB M087 in both 51 and 52, and 52 is a touch too roomy so my foot slides back and forth a bit when I give it Le Beans. It's fine for wearing three pairs of socks in winter riding, though...
I was really looking for fancypants road shoes though. I was thinking it might be worth seeing if Shimano's RC7 EU50 come up bigger than usual.

Hi LFGSSers,
I'm looking to find all the best SPD/SPD-SL options for people with big feet. I'm a UK14/EU50 in most shoes, but although there's a fair few cycling shoes around at that size, they normally come up small. There's no problem with getting standard MTB shoes in Size 51 (Shimano M089 etc), and it turns out that some EU50 Bonts are a more generous fit (Bont Riots, for instance), but does anyone know of any other options? Has anyone got any experience with Giro's larger models?
Principally, I'm after carbon soled SPD-SL shoes other than the Bont Riot. They're stiff alright, but the build quality is ropey so it'd be great to find some other bigfootcarbon options. It'd also be good to get some equally fancypants SPD MTB shoes, but so far I cannae find them.
Halp?

I assumed as much, but I recalled forum peoples mentioning that Rapha had been super nice even with sample sale product faults – hence the askings.
