question: is there any good reason, other than bad luck, why loads of different electrical appliances in different circuits/locations in a house would fail in rapid succession?
Basically before I replace all the things that are now bust I want to make sure there isn't some huge electrical fault I need to shout at the landlord over

Pros:
Very small/light --> portable. 400g.
Supposedly 14mm shackle (see below)
don't need to remember key. quick spring loaded locking mechanism
can't be bottle jacked cos tiny as
Cons:
Probably more fragile at locking end rather than shackle
Not much room
Quite hard to see when fitted --> no psychological deterrent --> they will kick your wheels inI wasn't sure where to post this but it could be useful secondary (even a light D is surely better than a scissor-defeatable cable), or as I have recently been using it - a very portable option for low risk situations.
PICS
http://i45.tinypic.com/2n7pj45.jpg (will just fit around stays, rim, and a pole). NB On the only nearby sheffield I tried it was a real pain to do this, although you could very easily go through two stays + the pole which presumably secures the wheel just as well.
http://i49.tinypic.com/sv3p1l.jpg - Why do manufacturers lie about specs? Its not like 13mm is terrible at this price point. -
Not sure if this is a (marginally) cheaper version of the onguard brute?
It has that onguard/magnummy silver shackle thing going on, and claims to be 16mm.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLAUD-BUTLER-16mm-D-SHACKLE-LOCK-/290759963418#vi-content
Similar price on amazon, various websites

I think for ethical reasons it is better to buy from trusted, local people, but the chinese have been ripping off monkeylights (and indeed ledus, props rr) to great avail:

It's damm ugly, the light/accel sensors don't work well.. but it's very cheap and very bright. Not a terrible effect if you maintain ~18mph+. If you can't afford better this isn't bad.

I called out another cyclist somewhere in islington (not sure, just went for a random ride from home so wasn't following any directions) for RLJ + turn into flowing traffic at a crossroads (I was in aforesaid traffic, going straight ahead, she pulled in from left arm of crossroads)...
Me: "You shouldn't come out at a red light"
...Then I overtook and went off. Later I'm wiggling between cars and pull out into the bus lane as she comes up from behind "You should check behind you"
Touche.

Really struggling to insert a photo.
Bike was stolen from Finsbury Leisure Centre near Old Street around 19:30, 8th November. Its is chrome in colour, front aerospoke was black. Frame size 57cm.
Here is a link to a photo of the bike on Photobucket:
Any info - 07536103380 - Thanks
What kind of lock were you using? Sorry mate can't really help re where the scumbags have put your bike but I leave mine outside there fairly often and was wondering what level of security they were willing to defeat.
(incidentally I've never seen the staff have an issue with people putting their bikes inside the squash courts there, which is safer)

I have video evidence, thank god. I got cctv from the shop over the road, police couldn't have cared less, ambulance were lovely.
I will not put it here, nor explain the circumstances on an open board.
Thanks tom, I'll be okay. Beckanham road, by the hump bridge to teh traffic lights at the stationOutside clockhouse? It's that typical situation where you're a bit slower due to the hill and drivers overtake not realise you might speed up when it's shock horror downhill, made worse by commuters late for their train...
I had a similar thing with blind crossing pedestrians on whitechapel road last week and the response my housemates gave on viewing the video - "you have to be careful and slow down and not ride like a car"... ?????

"Hi guys, I'm after some cross brake levers (i.e. the kind that run through to drop levers) - to fit 26mm but I can presumably shim up for OS if necessary.
Has anyone got anything lying around they want to offer? I know I'm newly registered (long time lurker..) but will happily pay by paypal or your preference.
All the best,
Sim"Quoted from my thread on singletrack world asking the same question - but just trying to get a wider audience here as well.. Obviously if you're based in london I might well be able to come collect and that way you can have cash and no postage cost. Depending on where.
Anyway offer away - thanks!

And these people are doctors?
"Is that heart valve secure?"
"Yep, I did it myself..."I'm a medical student.. if you want a free bike, the racks around the london chest and royal london hospital are always good for a laugh. It's especially funny when someone tries reeeeaaally hard (i.e. spends a lot of money and weight on a high end kryptonite) but fails so hard (uses the d-lock as a glorified padlock for a tiny loop cable...etc)

VB - Can we make this a sticky for a few months?
1. Avoid overtaking lorries on their left.
- Check behind you before changing position on the road (e.g passing parked cars).
- Make eye contact with other road users, visibility is the only thing
- Position yourself where everyone can see you,
- Get in front of trucks and buses enough so the drivers see you
- Position yourself out of the gutter so oncoming (right turning) traffic sees you
- Even behind a van/truck/bus....MAKE yourself seen, thats your responsibility.
- Put a bell
- Put a brake on your bike.
- [from moving target]
http://www.movingtargetzine.com/foru...r-life/#Item_0 - Vocally make pedestrians aware of your movements
- Do not switch lanes or cut between traffic without looking for other cyclist/motorcyclist filtering down the gaps.
- When passing parked cars. Check your shoulder and pull out with plenty of time. Too many people do it at the last minute.
14.Over exaggerate hand signals . so the thickos get the message - Get out in the cycle box at the front on lights, never sit on the inside
- Be aware for movement in parked cars (pre-empt those opening doors)
- Ride to your abilities
- If you cant see them they can't see you!
- DON'T whether on bike, in car, or on foot use a mobile while navigating a road.
And yes, I will cross a road texting but the amount of times that's got me into a smidsy (as a pedestrian)... even worse if on a bike, and worse still if in a giant transit van with no mirrors.
- Check behind you before changing position on the road (e.g passing parked cars).

Sudden inexplicable failure, no obvious burnt bits or flashing lights or crazy shenanigans... maybe I don't have a point
