With winter forecast to hit with a bang in Ireland next week I’m looking at picking up a few bits to make it more bearable. Sealskinz waterproof socks and shoe dryer ordered.
Any recommendations on a really good waterproof jacket? I’m open to dropping a decent amount on something really good in the hope that it’ll last a few winters.
Also, any waterproof tight recommendations? Are they a thing in running? Something like the nanoflex cycling stuff

Ran a local half marathon yesterday having not ran more than 16km in one go since Dublin marathon about 12 months ago.
I spent the first half of this year focusing on improving 5k time which was of course a lot of intensity but not massive volume in terms of long runs anyway, followed by a couple of months of start/stop due to foot and calf niggles.
My plan was to run easy/z2 heart rate, but I was feeling good warming up so decided to ignore the watch and try to run to feel. I’ve never run to feel, I guess I don’t trust myself to know how I feel, but it was enlightening! I ran a 15s PB despite the lack of specific conditioning and don’t feel any soreness (but plenty of stiffness) today. It was a lumpy course but ran fairly even splits in terms of pace and HR

I’m shopping for some autumn/winter gear and thinking of treating myself to some tracksmith items, until I saw the cost all totalled up (even with a new customer 20% discount)! Does anyone here have any tracksmith gear? Is it a cut above other brands? I have a few saysky bits I like but in fear of becoming a walking (running) saysky advertisement

I was 264,000th and 307,000th respectively for Saturday and Sunday in Dublin at 8:01am. Gave up on Sunday and joined Heaton park queue at 9am and was 48,000th. Currently at 12k and not feeling very hopeful for reasonably priced* tickets. Toddler and baby going crazy, wife losing her mind. Happy Saturday.
*I hear ticketmaster more than doubled ticket prices and called them in demand. How do I set up a competitor?

Yeh took a week totally off, followed by a week of easy runs with max 20km, then all the niggles hit when I started into a standard week, took an easy week and a bit, and have been hobbling around all day after parkrun yesterday.
I’ll take a week or two off running and get back on the bike before starting low and easy again and building through autumn and winter

What sort of mileage are you guys getting from a pair of trainers?
I’ve been fairly consistent at about 40km a week, 10km of which is typically a speed interval workout, 12-15km of an easy long run, and occasionally a 5km parkrun, otherwise easy runs. I have 3 pairs of trainers and would never wear the same pair 2 days in a row. I’m fairly religious about s&c and every week do a leg session made up of some plyometrics, single leg rdl’s, split squats and calf raises.
Until maybe 2 weeks ago this was all well and good, I had just come back from a weeks hols, followed by a low volume low intensity week to ease back in, but after my first speed workout, a 5k paced 6x800 on the road, my left foot felt a bit sore to walk on. Initially it felt like the pain was along the outside suggesting perineal tendinitis, but quickly shifted to just in front of the heel which I think is plantar fasciitis?
I took a very easy week and it felt fine again, but ran a hard Parkrun yesterday and been in pain ever since, again starting on the outside but shifting to in front of my heel.
Each of the 3 pairs of shoes I rotate are just hitting 300km, and I was wearing the same shoes (ASICS superblast) both times I experienced post run pain. One pair is at 400km but I never push hard in that pair so maybe a combo of shoes past their best and increased intensity?
My volume hasn’t increased, nor has intensity, and my core and legs are strong, so the only thing I can think of is shoes needing replacement, but 300km seems on the low side. That said I am 92kgs so not exactly easy on trainers. I’ve never had pain doing speed or tempo runs in superblast before now.

Anyone got any recommendations for standalone milk frothers?
Been happy with drinking exclusively espresso (or filter) at home since picking up my cafelat robot in 2020 but missus is starting to drink flat whites occasionally and daughter is partial to a babychino so wouldn’t mind picking up something that I could use at home.
Been looking at the bellman cx25s or subminimal nanofoamer (or even the pro). I know they have very different approaches but both seem to have loyal followings. Anyone tried both and can offer comparisons? Any others I should consider?

Appear to have contracted some peroneal tendinitis and curious to know if anyone here has experienced it?
Came about while cooling down from a 6x800 session on Tuesday, just as I was finishing up could feel a dull pain on the outside of my left foot. I’ve put it down to likely running unusually (not consciously) due to some tenderness in my left shin, putting more pressure on my ankle/foot.
I’ve not ran since Tuesday and the pain has subsided but definitely not disappeared. Can switch to the bike for a while but hoping it doesn’t keep me out of action for too long!

Pieced this together over the space of 2-3 years (frameset bought in 2020, wheelset bought in 2021, groupset bought in 2022). I focused on tri in 2023 and spent all year on a TT bike, and welcomed a second baby early 2024, so this bike has seen minimal mileage since summer 2022. I have now split and looking to sell frameset, groupset, and (once frame and group sell) wheelset separately.
2019 Genesis Volare XL Rim Brake Frameset - Reynolds 931 stainless steel frameset with tapered carbon fork. Approximately 7000km dry miles from new in 2020. In excellent condition with minor grazes to paintwork on chainstays. One decal peeling slightly. Comes with practically new Chris king headset and Hope thread together pressfit bb for shimano cranks (sram adapters can be purchased separately). Hope bb tools will be included in sale. 850eur or 750gbp shipped anywhere in UK or EU.
Dura Ace 9100 Groupset - Maximum 1000 dry km covered on this groupset, overall as new aside from minor heel rub on drive side crank.
172.5mm 52/36 chainset (not affected by recall)
Band on front mech 31.8mm
Short cage rear mech
11-28 ultegra cassette (I have another low mileage ultegra cassette somewhere that will also be included in sale)
Single pivot front and rear brakes
Brand new Dura ace cables, 11s gold kmc chain and black supacaz tape included in sale.
850eur or 750gbp shipped anywhere in UK or EU.I am based in ROI, but approx 1 hour drive from NI border, so can post within EU or UK without customs fees.
Hard to price either of these atm so let me know if you think I’m miles off.

Cross posting here from Genesis thread in case anyone is looking: I’m selling a 2019 rim brake 931 volare in size xl if anyone is interested? I’m based in Ireland but happy to ship (I’m close enough to the border that I can ship within UK to avoid customs/duty).
Comes with practically new ck headset and hope pressfit41 bb for shimano cranks.
Frameset has covered about 7000km since purchased in June 2020, some minor signs of use, but never crashed or dropped.

Following my earlier question I opted to not go for a rain jacket and instead picked up some tights, long sleeve and gilet courtesy of a 15% off ASICS code (along with some magic speed 4’s to relieve my metaspeeds of regular workouts) - got out for a run yesterday in the sleet/snow in a long sleeve, half tights, hat and gloves and was plenty warm (2x3km @10k pace), but will be layering up a bit more for todays easy run - no snow but 2 degrees!
