Hi, this is my first real foray into doing a rebuild after dabbling with maintenance over the years. I feel competent enough and can wield a spanner with the best of them. My only drawback is any technical knowledge, which I am hoping to overcome with politely place questions and/or a lump hammer.
My old trusty team banana is in need of some loving and on closer inspection, it was revealed that the wheels were really quite badly rusted and pitted, so they had to go. The chain was on its last legs, so it joined the wheels. The pile was increased with the addition of the seat, which left me thinking fixie!
Now I'm not a great fan of de-lugging etc of frames as I would like to think that some person in the future might want to restore the old beast back to it's factory build state. But as this is the bottom end Banana, I don't think anyone will blow a fuse at me putting some pimpy bits on and making it into a fun ride.
I want ideally to remove and replace the crankset, but have no idea what would fit onto the BB, does anyone know the sizing here? If this is not an option, what replacement BB size/thread would I be looking at?
I have just purchased some v-sprint wheels from their site in yellow (front) and black (back) for that funky look and want to finish the look off with a black seatpost and yellow saddle.
This leaves me with the bars, I have looked around and cant seem to make my mind up, does anyone have any ideas, or indeed something for sale that I could utilise here?
TL:DR - First time project, this will get messy.
