Dropout is looking like this and when i removed wheel to double check for any cracks in frame this dropped out http://s1139.photobucket.com/user/Thomas_David_Slater/media/IMG_0775.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0
so looks like wheel was over tightened which may well have been causing the clicking sound I mentioned on last page. Seems like a bit of a schoolboy error but i normally tighten wheel as much as poss on a track bike to avoid chain slip of death!!

re- tape
start from the bottom to the tops, and this should prevent it from travelling
having said that, I am not sure of the glue quality as this should not happen anyway I think...?Dude there is no glue at all or sticky side to benotto tape. So not a big suprise it is moving i guess!
Will try taping from bot to top although someone suggested that going from top to bottom is the only way with this tape in bar tape porn thread! -
The clicking might be that there's grit or whatever in the bearings of the BB. Or that there is a bit of corrosion on the bearings themselves. That's if it's standard unsealed bearings...
Yes could be, i will regrease and inspect but doubt it because it sounds a little tinny and metallic and only occurs when cranking down hard, not when spinning on flat.
I suppose could be wheel moving a little bit in the dropout?
or more likely is some kind of movement in the stem. As you can see it is very old and the sound is almost identical to the clicking/pinging sound when im tightening the top bolt and it is turning then stopping. Have regreased, taken out and re applied so we shall see. -

But im having two problems. First one very minor. How do i stop my benotto tape from moving? I keel retaping it and have gone over the top with a lighter but everytime i sprint with my hands in the 'on the hoods' position i get this:
Also when cranking down hard I am hearing a little clicking sound every time my left leg pushes down. Did not notice it the first day that i rode the Woodrup but today and yesterday it has been there.
It is not loud but on a track bike (no cables etc to be rattling) that has just been built upSounds to me (not an expert by any means) that there may be a crack in the frame but have inspected (especially around the bb lugs) and no signs at all, and there are no dents or any kind of twisting so doesnt seem to have been seriously crashed in a previous life.
I am 99.9 percent sure this is a little scratch from locking up and not a crack:
Have tightened up saddle, seatpost, chainring bolts, pedals, headset seems spot on, BB is brand new so not sure what else it could be.
Can anyone help please?

This looks great! What kind if riding are you using it for?
The Roberts is shaping up nicely. Picked up some wheels from 1000AA today which means I just need to decide on a chain, get a 17t cog and wait for an SLR to arrive in the post and then we're good!
May trim the cloth tape back a bit, gonna wait until I ride it first though.
Also need a 23c tyre for the front as the 25 that's in there now stops the wheel from spinning. Nice and tight on the rear though!

Also any advice on extremely tight tyres and avoiding pinch flats etc? I have bought some blb black mambas and I've never had this problem with gatorskins, kendas, schlabe's etc!!
Many thanks!

chris what kind of finish has the halfords paint got? would we be able to see a lil detail shot of it please?
did you use halfords also for the clear coat?
I asked because i always used graffiti intended paint in the past like montana and belton whick worked really well but no chance of a metallic sort of finish which is perhaps more likely with this car paint!
Loving this bike! Decals look great, must have taken real care with them!will it be ready for the lfgss track day?
Mands he is a star, will let you know if I need a sitter or if I upload any more pics of him. As I'm sure you can imagine, already have a long list of hopeful dog sitters though!! Sorry!
As far as the spelling, I always get it wrong , am gonna stick to sausage for now.
His paws and neck/back are very baggy and stretchy which is very funny!
