I faced the same dilemma a few days back. The way I saw it the randonnee ones were only a tenner more and come with pockets. That swung it for me (I like to carry more than a credit card).
For those interested in the fit, I currently fit a 32 in Swrve regular durable shorts and a 32 in Vulpine summer trousers (5ft 10, 70kg).
I ordered both a 32 and 34 of the Randonnee. 34 was too big. 32 possibly a bit tighter than I'd have liked but stuck with it due to the stretchy material not making it such a big issue. They are super comfy and would def recommend.Moral of the story is - don't size up or down.
Next question: padder merino boxers, vulpine or rapha (they are the same price)?

Im in a similar position... torn between Rapha Touring or Randonnee, Vulpine Summer, and Swrve lightweight shorts.
I own a pair of Swrve durable cotton ones and they fit well and are nice, material is just a bit too thick for this weather!
If anyone has a code going spare then that may force my hand?!

They were ok for the first couple of months. They just went a bit downhill after that (rattley, kept getting misaligned and rubbed the tyre, etc). They are still useable if I replaced the bracket, but they were starting to get on my nerves with all the extra tweaking they needed and they are so warped the rubbing is almost continuous (not good for the tyre!). I just can't be bothered with them any more. Not worth £75 imo.
Saying that, the front one is still ok...

The rear one has been getting worse for a while. It started to warp after 6 months so I had to adjust the bracket daily to stop it rubbing against the tyre. It also generally rattled and makes a lot of noise. The final nail in the coffin was when the bracket holding it to the brake snapped yesterday.
I could buy another bracket as the mudguard (besides being worn and warped) is still in one piece, but my commute today was so peaceful it highlighted how crap it had gotten.I'm tempted by Plume, my only concern is that it's mounted quite high above the wheel so I can't see it being that effective. Anyone got any experience with it? Musguard looks a little better (more coverage) but unfortunately I like my rear brake!

I got the transfer jacket a couple of weeks back when the temp really dropped. It is really nice and for its weight is unbelievably warm and snug.
I have been using it as my daily jacket on my commute with nothing but a standard rapha base layer underneath. The journey is 11 miles (mostly flat but an single speed) and by about mile 6/7 I normally have to undo it as running warm. On a chillier day (yesterday!) it is perfect.
It's probably overkill but I hate being cold at the start of my ride. It also dries off in a matter of minutes meaning it's always dry for the return leg!!
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat (or the vulpine one which is very similar)

PDW's are sold out everywhere, any alternative commonly available?
I emailed PDW about this, they're expecting stock in Jan - which is also when the 45mm version will become available for those with wider tyres :-)I'm hoping to get some for my Charge Plug 1 - and with the 28mm ReFuses that actually measure at 25mm the 30mm PDW's may just fit!

Unfortunately the Maxxis Re-Fuse Folding tyre in 28C is now sold out and discontinued, I do apologise for any inconvenience caused. We can offer the tyre in the 25C version if this is of any interest?
Please call our customer service team on 01274 588488 or +44 1274 588488 (if you are outside UK) if you would like to discuss any alternative options.
We do try and make sure that as many items as possible are in stock. Having good stock availability is obviously good for business as well as keeping you happy! We do sincerely apologise that the item that you wanted to order is now out of stock and hate this problem as much as you do.
Kind Regards,
Natasha

The question is, what's better - these in 25mm (or 23mm as they may turn out to be), or a pair of Durano's in 28mm (or any other recommendations for commuting in London)?

@eek, I have the snugflex hoodie and am a big fan. I think they are excellent value for money and a solid piece of kit. I run pretty hot, so I rarely need more than this and a t shirt/ baselayer underneath. It is more than adequate in terms of wind proofing and a decent level of water resistance. I've had it a year and wear it a lot.
Sounds like a good investment, cheers for the quick response. I'll go ahead order one tonight - it's a shame I'm not too keen on the colour choice but if it keeps me warm and (relatively) dry over an 8 mile commute (one way) I'll be happy!! -
lmao, is that not true of any underwear?! I assumed (or foolishly hoped) the merino would help wick the sweat away and the padding would be like sitting on a cloud. Sounds like it's a resounding no though so I'll save my 45 quid!
