LFGSS and Microcosm shutting down 16th March 2025 (the day before the Online Safety Act is enforced)
Still kind of in denial about this, terrible news.
Even as mainly a lurker, this forum has brought me daily happiness for so many years.
Thanks so much @Velocio. -

I've tried quite a lot of things short of changing to a dumb phone but I always just end up working around them eventually (eg deleting apps so I use the web version, deleting things from the home screen so I just go to the app library, instinctively dismissing the screen time lock etc).
My screen time isn't thaaat bad (1.5-2hrs per day) and I only really use whatsapp and the web browser, but I'd still like it to be less.
TBH by far the best thing I've found is having a book that I'm in to to hand which I can pick up instead of my phone during those times where you have a few minutes to spare. During those times it goes down to less than an hour today, which is pretty much all Whatsapp, which I don't consider problematic.

Don't think I'll be able to do many this year but did a bit of JS golf with the first day
code
``` let g=n=>document.body.textContent.trim().split('\n').map(i=>+i.split(' ')[n]).sort() g(0).map((i,x)=>Math.abs(i-g(1)[x])).reduce((a,i)=>a+i,0) let g=n=>document.body.textContent.trim().split('\n').map(i=>+i.split(' ')[n]) g(0).reduce((a,i)=>(g(1).filter(j=>j==i).length*i)+a,0) ``` -
Had this as a bit of a back burner project for ages and finally got round to building it up recently, before losing the will when the rear tyre didn't quite fit. I don't really need it, so seeing if anyone else fancies this as a complete bike but one that needs finishing (and a new rear tyre).
It's a 54cm Cannondale Optimo - great for a commuter/beater due to the clearances and mudguard/rack mounts. Cantis/V brakes to make it less stealable. Sadly I couldn't squeeze a 700X 38c (40-622) in safely but would work with something a bit smaller. Fine at the front.
Spec:
- Cannondale Optimo with carbon Slice fork (obligatory 'I believe one of the last to be handmade in the USA' comment)
- Praxis Alba 1x crankset (inc new Praxis BB)
- Mavic Aksium wheels
- Fizik Cyrano R3 bars
- Vittoria Terreno Dry tyres (new)
- 105 5800 shifters
- 105 R7000 rear mech (not pictured)
Will also provide an 11s chain.
The bad:
- Chain and brake pads are worn and need replacing
- Rear tyre does not fit without rubbing - will need to be replaced
- Needs cabling
- Cassette is a bit undergeared (11-28t) unless you're coming from the world of SS or are well 'ard
- Overall condition is a bit beaterish, most components are fairly worn cosmetically and there is some damage to the paint around the fork which has been painted over.
£275 > £260 > £250 or splitting, see last post
Collection from Beckenham BR2, can't be ridden away. Can possibly deliver if local.
