I have an affected Ultegra chainset that I bought secondhand a while back... how willing are bike shops to sort this for random people off the street like me? Is there any incentive for them (from Shimano/the distributor) to take on the hassle?
Probably should get it checked but it's not on a bike I ride that often so haven't done it yet. Any recommendations for shops in SE London that are happy to check it?

Thanks all.
@oheyitsd it's alu with steel fork, 1-1/8" steerer.Yep, no real advantage other than they're fun. And slightly more likely to sneak onto a peak time train.

Finished my Argos minivelo for now. Originally planned to leave it as stock as possible but inevitably got slightly carried away and changed pretty much everything except the frameset, wheels and drivetrain. Down from a pretty dead feeling 13.5kg to under 11, which makes it ride so much nicer along with the new tyres.
Build ended up taking quite a long time due to BB being completely seized out of the factory, and a bent fork disc tab, possibly caused by persuading the BB in increasingly unconventional ways.
Really fun to ride. Not bad for <£200 + some parts bin stuff.

Mine arrived today, is actually pretty solid and fun to ride out of the box, after a bit of fettling.
It passed QA in early 2021, safe to say they've had a fair amount of stock lying around for a while... guess the 'wishes-they-had-a-Neutrino' and and 'buys-bikes-from-Argos' Venn diagram is pretty small.
(sorry for hijacking your CP thread @el_presidente)

From reading the various threads:
- Cranks (shit and really heavy)
- Bars/stem (heavy)
- Seatpost/seat (quick win)
- Wheels (shit/heavy but maybe not worth it - have 130mm rear spacing)
- Shifting (gripshift)
- Brakes, if you have some hydros lying around, otherwise the stock ones are OK apparently
I'm planning to leave it as stock as possible, but might swap stuff out to get the weight down a bit (bars) or if I have it in the parts bin already (seatpost, seat, cranks, brakes).
- Cranks (shit and really heavy)
After one of these too in case someone is selling. Either the original or the Go would be fine.
Cheers
