So this is what the London Assembly presented to Boris Johnson in November 2012 to address "falling cycle safety by prioritising ways to encourage more people on to bikes and reduce serious cycling incidents on London’s roads."

One of the 5 major points was to appoint a commissioner of cycling, Andrew Gilligan was appointed.

The only time I've seen him was giving a couple of sheepish TV interviews (before Boris stepped in) after the recent deaths of cycling Londoners on the roads (where he looked liked he was told to victim blame but looked very uncomfortable doing so).
What has he done for cycling and what influence does he have?

Just spent a sunny afternoon down Peckham track :) Was lucky enough to have a day off work and went to 'rock up and ride' session, so just hire a bike and helmet and do your own thing. We had the whole track to ourselves, was so much fun! The guys running the track are very welcoming/helpful. I think one of them is on here, so hello waves
After going to a couple of novice sessions on Thursday nights realised they're not for me. They were very welcoming but the sessions are run for little people and so they should be. They're doing a fantastic job, I'm just way way too old.
It'd be great to have a regular novice session for adults on a week night. Can we make this happen, would anyone else be interested?

Sorry a little late, thanks so much Simonm for the tix and lovely to meet you.
My first time watching track racing at Manchester, amazing being so close to the action.
Highlights for me were Trott getting a lap in the scratch. Muller destroying himself to win the scratch 6 laps (?) out. Archibald attacking on the points race and trying an energy sapping bridge unsuccessfully for so long... (so so much more to come, v exciting!) and Phillip and Forstermann in the Sprint.

They're looking for people to help promote their film in the UK, so do get in touch with them if you can help.

Cyclist knocked down by a BT van on Portland St (se17) this morning about 9.40. If you're on here hope you're ok and just scratches and bruises. I was the cyclist that stopped to make sure the driver wasn't being a dick and made everyone swap details, but then stoopidly didn't give you mine.. If the driver changes his mind about his responsibility (I can't imagine he'll try) then PM me.

So good to see Maryam being acknowledged for everything she does to encourage cycling. She was an amazing volunteer Dove bike rider in the Olympics opening ceremony too!

He seems better qualified than someone who's done no cycling at all. But his previous association with Boris does raise the worrying possibility that he won't call him out when he's failing to actually do anything positive for cycling.
A quick (serious) reciprocal question @3phaser & zeez: what would you accept as credentials for the job? I can't think they'd for a moment consider appointing someone who cycles round London for a loving e.g., a courier, because of the image problem that couriers have with teh public. So what would qualify someone for the job?
I guess a healthy and open dialogue with London cyclists, cycling bodies and campaigners. Capable of evaluating cycling statistics independently and without personal or political agenda. Broad understanding of traffic infrastructure in big cities. Oh and genuinely wanting to do the best for London cyclists and cycling present and future.
Swapping to a triple 10speed chainset.
Looking for crankset, levers, derailleurs, rear cassette. Happy to buy together or separately.
Would prefer Shimano Tiagra/105/Ultegra.
Thanks
