Hello. I was on the px kaffenback wearing the eskadel hat/gillet. I never made it to southall. Once I got to Uxbridge I started heading to ruislip on auto pilot. That was a good days ride Oxfordshire is a lovely county.. My biggest mileage by about 25 miles. Stevenage start of summertime special for me next.

Much the same as the rest of you are saying.
I started in Bembridge at about 08;30 . There were times when I didn't see another rider.
I was sure I'd missed signs . some of those climbs, bloody hell. . . went round in five and half hours. . wasn't expecting the gravel section. . Was on a 48/20 s/s macchiato . Only saw two other s/s bikes .
That was a very good ride and it was free.

Noticed they sell a cross bike as well as a reasonably expensive aero-tubed road bike while I was in the Surrey Quays one the other day: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/cyclo-cross-road-bike-id_8113183.html#anchor_ComponentProductFeatures
Website is pretty gash though.
On the other hand, their aerofit jerseys have a pretty nice fit (as worn by the FdJ team this year, not that it seems to have helped them win very much) http://www.decathlon.co.uk/aerofit-9-jersey-black-red-id_8237976.html
that cross bike was the one i was looking at , looks ok. would that be better than the Uncle john that On one make ?

an old boy with a walking stick tutted and shook his head at me today for not stopping for him at a zebra crossing. We were the only people on the road. he was 50% across anyway so had technically crossed my side of the road and moved onto the other side. if i had stopped i'd have been there all day the speed he was walking .

I've taken the kids (9 and 5) on the cable car twice. they love it . Both times there has been hardly anyone else on it. I think it costs around £15 return . I have a tfl staff pass and get a small discount.
The boy aged 9 now wants to do that walk over the dome thing.
I use it as an excuse to get over that way and then make them go to decthlon with me .
