You know a great thing about LFGSS is that it isn't such a messed up forum as a lot of others are.
There are some people who care that it stays that way, and yes they come of a bit arrogant maybe,

Thought it might be fun to go trad sailor style, it's fun seeing modern objects depicted out of their chronological context... But something more tech/modern could also look awesome...

It sounds like an awesome project, no one jumps to mind with me, but I would say just start the reasearch, for me its all part of the fun, big tattoo planet might be a good place to start, or depending where you are in the country get out to some conventions, (not that there are many this time of year, but brighton convention is just round the corner)

have fun though and post results of any thing you get done

oh yeah, I've been into the shop as well, but I tend to trust first-person accounts more than flash and pictures.
