I have here my recently completed carbon framed single speed. Built just for fun, I am selling it as I prefer riding my CAAD 8 and old Romani racer.
The frame is a 2009 Planet X track frame that has actually came 3rd and won the bronze medal at the 2011 World Masters Track Cycling Championships in Manchester ridden by Elliot Davis!
It has since been painted matt black as Elliot got fed up of promoting Planet X when they would not sponsor him. It is a home job, but perfectly respectable.
The rest of the spec is as follows
Forks – Specialized Langster (new)
Headset – Campag Record (used but very good)
Chainset – Sturmy Archer 44 (new)
Bottom Bracket – Shimano (new)
Wheels – Alexrims S480 (new)
***Bars – Kooka aluminium 65cm (new) - ***I will include some nearly new Deda’s that are only 45cm wide if you want a narrow profile.
Saddle – Selle Italia Trans Am XO (new)
Brakes (front only) – Tekro (new)
Stem – Deda Quattro (new)
Chain – Clarkes single/fixed black (new)
Seat post – Planet X carbon aero (used but very good)
It is a medium frame 56cm from centre of BB to top of seat stay. Reach is about 57cm centre to centre. I am 5’10” and have it set as per the photos. My brother-in-law is 6’ 2” and quite comfortable albeit with a bit of a more forward lean once the seat is raised.

***It is running normal road wheels with a single speed conversion, properly aligned and running very smoothly. If I were to keep it the next job would be to fit a fixed/single rear wheel to make it a proper fixie! ***

Rides beautifully.*
*
**It cost me about £350 to build and ***I’m not out to make money, as I say it was built for fun, so £350 buys it.
*
I am based in Yorkshire so will post if required at the buyers expense.*

If you need any further info just ask.*
I will of course make a suitable donation if I sell it here.

So it would need to be fixed rear wheel to be safe? Fair enough, I am not familiar with this kind of bike. Having said that, even if it was fixed, if you had to stop suddenly surely you would grab the brake as well as stop peddling? So the momentum would still take you over the bars? In my view having a front brake and a free rear wheel must be a lot safer than a free front and fixed rear bike (i.e. no brakes) that I see a lot of on here.
Live and learn!
