Very off topic but when Birkenstocks smell bad (when your friends start telling you that your 'stocks smell) cover the footbed in bicarb for a day or two and it will smell less after you brush it off.

(Hack because it extends the life of an otherwise good sandal)

I did a 6 month trip on it through NZ, Tassie, Morocco, Spain and Portugal. The trip was wicked and so was the bike.

I know what you mean. Although when my friends have wanted to get into cycling they want something lighter and flashier and don't see the appeal of steel sadly.

Really happy with this set up. Not rapid but not sluggish. Just feels dialed and comfortable for long rides just a happy medium of everything. I think it's the best road bike I've ever had.

I rode Taste of the Test today starting in Amesbury. 200km 2500m following the Test in many sections. I would throurougly recommend it. It is very beautiful all around with no surprise gravel and quiet lanes. Riding up the road to the white horse at Alton Barnes is surreal with rolling hills and sun all around.
