Bit of advice please - looking to enter a race or two over this autumn/winter (just for bit of fun and to break up the winter training) but not too sure on how to enter. I am based in the west London area so what would be the closest races to me? At this moment I don't have a bike, but I am looking to get one so any advice on a decent basic one to start out on (preferably second hand, but could get a new one on cycle to work if it is worth it, but the more budget friendly the better). Never done this before so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for the write up @clubman
Not my quickest on that course, but as mentioned by clubman, considering the temp, wind and profile I was happy with that :-)

Have been using the stock wheels (Mavic CXP22) that came with my Boardman and looking to replace them now that the rims and bearings are going after several thousand miles. Are SHIMANO WH-R501 perfectly good wheels? Or are they too cheap? I will using them for all year round training and commuting in all conditions.

STOLEN BIKE
Raw finish On-One Pompino - with black topeak rear rack and twin black panniers (picture pre-dates them). Black Shimano Alfine crankset (i built this bike myself so it is pretty unique).
Today (10/7/19) I had my On-One Pompino stolen from my place of work in Slough. It was stolen from the underground car park which needed a key card to gain access, between 9am - 5.30pm. Broad, I know, but work are reviewing CCTV in the morning. I have reported it to police, but please keep an eye out if you see it if you live or work in the area.

Looking for a 25/28mm general training/riding tyre that is quite hard wearing and puncture proof but doesn't feel like riding on hosepipes. Currently on Open Paves, which are lovely, but are pretty quick wearing
