Decathalon do slightly stretchy plain black shorts, minimal with a few zipped pockets, they even have a 'gusset' -Ive worn my pair every day for a year and a half more or less and they're still good - that and they do plain-ish merino Ts for about £15. I've also got a pair of Chrome canvas SPD shoes, so I look like a regular human when off the bike.

I did 2 seasons in Sunshine (the big local hill to Banff), and totally recommend it. The night park at Norco was fun too if thats your thing. Calgary is boring AF though, so don't expect excitement there, though I think they might still use the old olympic grounds, so maybe some after work sesh's there.

Hi, Ive just foiled a bike robbery outside my house on a bike cage - 4 dudes with a angle grinder- I've called the police, but the lock is 90% cut through, and I don't know who any of the bike owners are. Do you think the thieves will come back to finish the job? Anyone think of anything I could do to stop the bikes being stolen tonight. Bearing in mind its right outside my front door, and I don't want to attract undue attention from people who steal bikes...

Well done! Love the idea of a quick track stand at the top of Hardknott, it was all I could do to stand at all by that time. It was the first time I'd done any sportive or race, so I think I jumped in the deep end a bit, but no dramas. I did see a rider down looking very worse for wear on the descent from Honnister, and the ensuing ambulance coming up to get him at the feed station. Good luck at Bergamo this weekend!

Did a some of this last week… make sure you get a train early as my early one was canceled and had to get a later one. Like owlz says, you can get on early and hang about on the boat. Its kind of worth it because you're paying for a cabin that you can only really use for few hours. Amsterdam is on 45k from Utrecht, and check out Lf4 cycle route, from Utrecht, which is pretty nice. If you cycle the coast at all, make sure you're going North, the wind was pretty epic when I went!

Thanks guys, this is pretty interesting. Especially as One-one have a SS MTB crankset on ridiculous offer. Am I right in thinking a SS MTB crankset would run about the middle ring of a triple?
Here's the link for anyone interested; http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/CSOOTC/on-one-external-bearing-track-crankset -
I've had a good read through the Velosolo site, and they fall just short of answering my question. I do have 130mm drop outs, but no chain set at all yet. I think a single speed chain set with your suggestion of a double chanring BB would lift the chain line wide enough. Theres not going to be a huge hurry to get running gears, it would just be good to have the option without getting a new wheel. Cheers!

I was hoping to do that, but like you say, chain line. Velo Solos website suggests that they'd be very helpful, so I might shoot off an email to them. I haven't go any components for it yet, so its all still negotiable. Thanks for the help.
@Rodolfo, what crank/bb size/standard do think would do the trick, surely chain line becomes less important when you fit a derailleur etc.?
maybe I should just..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oakley-FROGSKINS-300-PAIRS-WORLDS-BEST-COLLECTION-LIMITED-ULTRA-RARE-/142358471274?hash=item212539e26a:g:CP0AAOSw5UZY-20w
