World apart from football wow. These guys must really love the sport!
It IS a world apart , yes, but bear in mind those figures are just for stage finishes and sprints etc. The GC also carries a large-ish prize fund - but they aren't racing for prize money, they are getting paid to be there by the teams. A rider that does well in the TdF ( stage win) can expect a hefty increase in salary for the rest of the season, and probably the rest of his career.
Last years numbers showed an average salary for a pro team domestique as just over €100,000. The big names can earn up to €5m. That doesn't include personal sponsorships etc. (Ernst and Young Audit of UCI team finances.)

Hinault on itv highlights talking about crashing in a sprint in Saint Etienne where he broke his nose and made "a hole" in his head, then getting up to ride his bike to the finish like it was nothing; shrug "I had many other worse crashes". Love that guy.
That's what I'm talking about Jimmy - none of this *"he's a bit wheezy and he's got a hurty back" *shit about Talansky.. ;)
This, plus the film of him getting back on the bike and riding to the finish with blood pouring off his nose.

His wrist looked to be very heavily supported and they'd padded the fuck out of his bars. Fractured perhaps?
Brailsford was saying he was in a lot of pain, did everything but actually admit it was fractured. Wouldn't be surprised it if was. He was certainly favouring it after the last fall even though he landed on the opposite side this time.
-
Well Sky have come out and said openly that Porte is the man now. Brailsford also said that Froome and Porte had always been on equal footing in the team so switching focus to Richie was the logical move. How much of that is true and how much is spin is hard to say, but Porte is on point for Sky now whatever way you look at it.
Geraint Thomas has promoted himself to Super-Domestique in the process and we'll almost certainly see him in the role that Porte played for Froome last year. He'll be looking to next year to move up.

Unless I missed something, you probably get paid through the app just like Hailo.
In which case, you'll be doing the work for free whilst the courier who turns up and finds the package already being delivered gets paid handsomely for not doing the delivery.
I guess that works if you're feeling generous and kind that way.
I meant in a more unscrupulous manner.
Courier Co. dispatcher has the app, posing as a rider.
Accepts every job that comes up before anyone else gets it (no thinking involved, just accept the job regardless).
Passes them onto their own riders via the usual radio dispatch.
Their rider does the job.
Courier Co. gets paid via the app, not the rider.
-
What would stop an agency from getting the app and just grabbing every job that came up before farming it out to their own riders?
It's been a while, but the last time I worked as a bike courier (motorised version) no-one stopped to check who you were. You just rocked up in the right gear and said "picking up a package for " and they handed it over.

And she hasn't got a job to pay for them. Given what happens when you type her name into Google she may not have one for a while too...
Apparently she has, at least according to the Mirror's reporting of the case.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/emma-way-bloody-cyclists-twitter-2811552
Way, who stressed she did not receive a fee for the appearance, was sacked from her job as a trainee accountant with Norwich-based Larking Gowen after the tweet came to light. The court heard she has now got a new job.

If she was paid it's in direct contravention of section 3.3 of the broadcasting code.
3.3 No payment, promise of payment, or payment in kind, may be made to convicted or confessed criminals whether directly or indirectly for a programme contribution by the criminal (or any other person) relating to his/her crime/s. The only exception is where it is in the public interest.

Got a bag of the Espresso Blend and it's very nice. A little lacking in body for my personal taste, I like my espresso to have a kick to it, but tasty all the same. Makes a cracking cappuccino, adding the milk brings out the lighter flavours, almost like having a little blob of Nutella stirred into it. Have ordered the El Salvador for the next bag and look forward to comparing the two. I'm going to keep back enough beans from the Espresso Blend to be able to do a side by side tasting :)

Tiddles has just lost another of his lives.
He was out in our front garden minding his own business when one of the local dogs, an american bulldog (not a pit bull), was being walked past. Dog saw him and somehow slipped his collar and went for him. Tiddy ran for the back garden with the dog chasing him where it cornered him.
Wife heard the noise and came out to see what was going on just as the dog actually grabbed Tiddles. She grabbed the dog and got it's mouth open where upon Tiddles, instead of running for it, stood his ground with hackles up and tail like a bottle brush hissing and spitting and basically daring the dog to have another go. By this point he's covered in blood and dog slobber.
Dogs owner arrives and gets hold of the dog, full of apologies and Clare gets hold of the cat, gives the dog owner a mouthful and gets Tiddles inside and into a carrier to get him to the vets.
Get to the vets having rung ahead and told them she has a cat thats been attacked by a dog, so they are ready and waiting. Get him in, vet gets him out of the basket and starts to examine him. Vet then says "did you say it was a dog attack?" followed by "they are usually worse than this"
Turns out he is virtually unharmed, a bit shocked and some bruising but otherwise fit and healthy. The blood appears to have belonged to the dog after he gave it's face and muzzle a damn good shredding with his claws. He may have no teeth but his claws are bloody sharp!
By my reckoning he is down to four lives now......

Sometimes It's not about carbon or steel,
It's not about Strava or beating your PB on the commute home,
It's not about the nodders and the flouro's and the bad drivers, or the bad cyclists,
Sometimes it's not about fixed or geared,
It's not about speed or distance or hills or gear ratios,
It's not about training or climbing or sprinting,
Sometimes it's just about getting on the bike and letting it take you somewhere,
Finding the quiet backstreets, the places you've never been before, the unexpected stretch of perfect new Tarmac,
Sometimes it's about just finding your rhythm and going with the flow,
Sometimes it's just about being on a bike, and just being. -

They shouldve made the drops with a standard bend at the (shoulder?) - the bars are missing one of the best grip positions and you cannot install levers, plus it looks a bit shit.
The bar end lights are at the bottom anyway, so they are this shape for no reason at all!
They appear to be that shape because they use the same crossbar with the headlight and gps kit in it and add bull horns or drops as required. If they welded at the very end of the drops they wouldn't be strong enough.
Agree with you about the overall shape through. Needs a redesign to be able to put some brakes on it.

Redishing ??? I need to google that lol
Iv trued/ straightened wheels before as I used to ride bmx a fair bit years ago
But yes keeping these wheels and converting them could be a good option however I liked the idea of having sealed bearings and a decent hub ( iv never had one before lol)
Take note of the post after mine. Conversion to fixed is probably not a good idea unless you like the idea of your rear cog spontaneously unscrewing itself the first time you try and skid.
Track hubs have stepped threads, one larger one for screwing on the cog, one smaller reverse threaded one for the locking that stops the cog unscrewing. I managed to forget this small but rather important detail...

As a half way house between buying and building your own, and the cheapest option, you could convert the existing wheel. Replace the current freewheel with a screw on fixed cog, adjust the spacing to get the chain line right and and re-dish the wheel yourself. It's work, but you'll learn about setting up a chain line, truing and dishing a wheel and know that you did it yourself.

I stumbled across a gold bike but the location doesn’t match up with any of the clues, should I try to bring it in anyway?
Stop! This bike probably belongs to someone else, removing it is theft!.
*lol
So rattle canning a bunch of crap bikes, locking them with cheapo combi locks set to 7777 and leaving them in random places (outside Evans stores perhaps) would be a bad idea?
