Well then I would say permission doesn't come into it. I would just build it as no one will realise it's even there!

You're onto the public highway in your front garden so it's a fair question. We've got planning for a fence and gate across our driveway, but I see lots of bin stores and similar which I doubt have/need planning.

I'd like a Joe Cool (as in Snoopy) tattoo. Can anyone recommend an artist in London? I'm not sure on style yet (keep it cartoon or add some shading? Colour?), but open to suggestions! I might want him to wear a cycling cap, and have a Columbus bird on his sweater rather than "JOE COOL" so someone who's happy to ad-lib, I guess.

Any particular reason for avoiding shower over bath? We were hoping to do so, but then realised we didn't have room for a bath (we both love a good, hot bath!) and a shower (an absolute must, let's be honest).

Really happy with what we have ended up with. The shower is over the bath, but plumbed in separately; not via the hot/cold taps on the bath. Not electric, not power, just mains pressure.

Think it's a Crosswater one.

@neu I would ask the neighbours to remember their floor is your ceiling, like others suggest. And do it soon / combine with introducing yourself. A reasonable person will have no issue with you mentioning.

Any insulation will have limited effect... as @Airhead pointed out, noises travel through the structure of the building as well. Our upstairs neighbours are absolutely fine, but we can here them leave via the stairs at the front of the house, even when we're all the way in the back of the extended part of our flat (we're ground floor, 1890s house converted into three flats). I'm certain floor insulation wouldn't make a difference.

Can't help, but anecdotally had the same pain trying to find a quality, plain/flush solid door. They're just not available.

Ended up with one we would have never chosen - too light, really. However, it has painted up really nicely so I eat my words a bit.
