Cool I will give that a try. I suppose I will have to be extra careful not to take out too much material and thus change the effective diameter of the post.
I don't imagine I'll be able to get it back to the finish that comes on the post from the factory, but hopefully the damage will be a little more subtle than what it is currently.

Hi all,
I've read the shiny shiny post and other polish-related posts already -- and they have been a huge help when its come to removing gouges from and polishing my steel and aluminium components.
However, I've recently come into a gorgeous Record Ti seat post (and matching Record Ti groupset I might add :D) that is quite scratched up from being inserted and moved numerous times. The previous owner is shorter than me, so I have an inch of seatpost showing that is in really rough shape. In the polishing threads I didn't really see anyone speaking of removing semi-deep scratches from their Ti componentry.
Has anyone had any luck with this? If yes, what did you do?
Cheers!

ah 600gbp that makes a little more sense. Thanks for the clarification and advice -- much appreciated.
Honestly I think the mish mash of parts is a bit of a turn off now that I've been thinking on it. And I get the feeling that the guy wants a premium for it because it says merckx and campagnolo. Perhaps I'll keep looking around. I also see a nice steel road frame with full Shimano 600 "tri-color" logo stuff. Could be a better bet....

Potential owner here... just posted a thread in the classifieds: discussion forum re: a Merckx I'd like to snap up. https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/273836/newest/
Suggestions/advice welcome!

Hi folks,
Looking to add a road bike to my stable and this one has popped up locally. Sadly I know next to nothing of road bikes and have no idea as to what is a good or bad deal for something like this:
Pictures are pretty shit, sorry. Looks to have Veloce brakes and ergo shifters, Veloce front mech, Centaur crankset, some kind of super-record-looking-ish seat post...
What do you guys think? How do this era/lineup of Campag components fare?
Thanks for the help!

Hi folks,
I'm hunting for a Campagnolo seatpost that is on the long side of things, and in good shape, for a new build. I have one of those Aero Campag posts, but they aren't long enough for me in general. I need 27.2mm dia, and around 250mm length at a minimum.
Would be interested in the Ti posts, the old Centaur alloy posts, perhaps even a Record carbon post.
I am located in Montreal, Canada so you'll have to be willing to ship. I will cover the expense obviously.
I've got a few transactions on here already.
Lemme know what you have!
Hi all,
Was sold a Thomson Elite seatpost of "27.2mm" diameter here on the forums. But after taking receipt of the post and checking it with the calipers it turns out it is actually 26.8mm. It is of no use to me. The post is in excellent shape otherwise, and comes in its original bag.
Just looking to get back what I paid for it: 30gbp posted, from Montreal, Canada.
Will put up some pics when I get home from work.
Cheers
