What started as a relaxed budget project for my female-partner has now become a nerdy full-on secret birthday project for her
Last fall we started planning a build for her. She doesn't know much about cycling, and building a bike is somewhat a lost cause for her. She doesn't really want to build the thing, she just wants to know how it feels to ride a smooth bike. She wants gears, and she definitely has a certain opinionated taste for the bike aesthetics, so i think i will have some luck in pushing some bike culture her way.
Right now she drives around on a rusted piece of junk, so to speak.. Its my responsibility to get her rid of that thing, and i will gladly do so. I've begun planning a cute little steel bike for her. Hopefully she will end up happy with the result, and she will begin riding around herself and experience the joy of bike riding.
I recently stumbled upon a Gitane frame in her size. It's a fine frame with a nice paint job in a marbled-blue style with yellow lettering. Tubing is columbus cromor. A true race frame, without any fender mounts. She will have to do without.. Like most of my other projects, i can't control myself, so i ended up buying a used Dura Ace 7700 group set for the bike. I want the group to run on down tube shifters, and have the bike fitted with a more relaxed milano-style handlebar. She recently had a bad case of scleroderma inflammation (i google translated that one) in her wrists, and needs a more comfortable riding position. So it will be a pseudo racing bike with a more touring minded-setup i guess..!
Setup so far:
Gitane Colombus cromor sz 50
Dura ace 7700
Suntour downtube shifters
Mavic open sport wheelset
Cinelli 1a 110mm + Belleri handlebars (and a can of coke for the fitting)
no name polished seat post
Regal saddle
Yellow tressostar bar tape
gatorskin 23mm tyresI have already started building the thing slowly, and i expect it to be finished by the end of next week. As all bike builds, unexpected things do happen, and i don't think that this will be any different. Lets see how it turns out! I am quite excited to reveal this one to her. She literally has no clue that i am building it for her
More pictures to come.

Headed out for a 4 day-trip in Denmark, with my good friend who had never ridden anything else but heavy city-bikes up until now
Most rewarding part of this trip was too see how he slowly converted into, what may become, a fully devoted bike enthusiast.
Anyway, packing was simple. We bought a couple of straps from the local outdoors shop, and strapped everything we had to our bikes; Tent, Sleepingbag (Big mistake, it was way too hot) and a sleeping pad. Everything fairly lightweight and compact. I would have preferred it differently, say more pannier/rack-ish style of packing, but to my surprise this actually worked miraculously well (Yes i was skeptical)
We packed the morning we left. Simple
After my pal had laughed of my matching Rapha-stuff he then threw on his Jordan Jersey and headed out into the wild. Lovely trip, and the weather was crazy good!

I've held and fitted one of the large Pelago racks just recently
The quality is nice, although there are some small details which make me favor the VO/Soma racks. The rails on the pelago racks are welded sideways. I prefer the forwards welding of the VO/Soma
And the sloped rail at the end of the rack is larger than the ones on the VO/Soma. The larger sloped rail makes for a more uneasy fit for cargo in my opinion
Other than that the Pelago racks are quite nice, especially at the low price point!

Hi everyone
I am selling my wonderful Tornado Track frame. Designed and hand built in Odense, Denmark by Tonny Tornado. The frame is made out of Reynolds 531 tubing in the classik Tornado pearl white paint job. It is the stiffest and most interesting steel-track i've ever ridden.
It has some scratches and chips, but no dents! It has a microscopic hole in the bottom of the bridge of the seat stay, which has no effect on the frame at allThe frame is made for 27,2 seatposts, and is threaded for BSA BB's. Size 56,5 c-t-c
The frame was built for the professional danish rider Jakob Piil, who rode it on the track back in 92'
The frame is fitted with a smooth Dura Ace headset
located in Copenhagen, Denmark
Price: 430gbp shipped in europe

Feel free to ask me any questions by PM

Yep, as stated above the price is 680 gpb including the smooth running gadgets : )
Theres really no rush to this, and thats why i am posting it here, rather then the 'For sale' thread. Maybe someone here wants to do some trading? As long as the price is right, i would of course consider selling it aswell!
@Johnnyw75
Just recieved my backpack. Great communication and fast shipping.
