Didn’t get any further than the Humber, as no trains available to bring me back from planned 1 way ride to The Border. So a round East of England 3&1/2 days 515km trip, London - Peterborough - Horncastle - Caister - Bridge - Brigg - Lincoln - Grantham - Huntingdon - Bedford - London. Lovely weather, except cold and freezing today
There were a few times where I managed to hang on to the back of a fast road train coming back into East London where I thought “hang on this is just a Sunday ride in the country, why on earth am I trying to keep up?” Overall nice day, I enjoyed it.
Whilst a political party can’t do this; replace the picture of the random grieving lady with one of HM the Queen on her own in Westminster Cathedral, and that’s a powerful message to the Tory faithful.
Andrew Bailey, who rode out the worst of Thatcher 1979-84 whilst studying at Cambridge as an undergrad, and then joined the BoE in 1985. So not much real world experience outside of the dreaming spires there.
IMHO that would be a fantastic opportunity - in London with that view? Why are you even asking? Move kitchen to back of house, overlook pond, consider ditching garage on side for 2 story extension home office with bedroom above = 4 /5 bed house. Buy out flying freehold.
All I have in my diary that week “ 1 hour walk with [my] kids”. And he has “drinks on terrace with Dom and Carrie and colleagues” . Mind you, the walk was more fun ffs
We’ve booked to stay in Alpe. Cant face getting somewhere else after all that. There is an early morning bus option to take you to the start from Alpe. Like 4am ugh.
I guess you could argue that EU freedom of movement and accession of new states allowed an over-reliance on foreign born HGV drivers; and that BREXIT/COVID then exposed that fragility in the system. IDK if any of that is proven however.
Challenge it, personally by letter to HMRC. Note that they have a limited time to respond. I’ve seen tax codes that make no sense to me in the past. (I have one at the moment). However be prepared that nothing changes; HMRC have failed to respond on a number of times in my case.
I complained to Wiltshire’s Police and Crime commissioner, asking whether a caution is acceptable for this quality of driving. The PCC has a helpful and easy form to fill in.
