Been what feels like an age coming, but now I have just taken delivery of a new frame from Mr Jackson (the build is so-called as my Uncle Bob, now sadly departed, was a massively good egg and is coincidently shares the surname...)
It was always my first attempt at the foolish classic newbie idea to make a bike that will do everything - though realistically it will be a vintagey looking (though with far too many anachronisms to call it purely vintage) non weight weenie steed that will get me to and from work, be a little bit bomb resistant, and hopefully one day join me on at least one cycle holiday. Out of London.
Oh, and I'm doing the pussy-ish 75k route to (and from) Roubaix in April so will initially build it with 28's and mudguards, though hopefully when these come off it won't look too tourery.
I don't doubt the whole black/gold/British steel thing has been done to death, though this one's all mine :)
Anyway, about those anachronisms (largest first, I guess)
135mm rear OLD for an Alfine hub that I have waiting for it.
S&S Couplers
Internal brake routing (and will have aero bars)
Cyclocross levers on the top tubeSome other gimmicky bits
That rear light bit that some trendy Rene Hearse types have for a rear light on the seat tube
Curvy rear seat stays (spent too long looking at Hetchins on Google images)
Arrowhead lugsMost of the stuff is already sitting at home (and no doubt soon up for sale as it's wrong size/colour/side of whatever mood I'm in), tho will do a build photo before I try to put it all together...

Ok then, had a few pms asking so here's how...
Wait for the first ball to be drawn (in original sequence, not post sorting) that is 10 or over - the second digit of that number is the first digit of your answer.
Then, the next ball to be drawn that is 9 or over in the draw - the second digit of that number is the second digit of your answer. If 9 is drawn, then it is take to be the same number as the first digit.

My bicycle was stolen from behind Old Street / Bath Street from a pay per year bike compound. Unfortunately it seems a very unsecured bike compound with only standard allen key headed bolts attaching the U-shaped bar to the ground. this was easily undone, over night
Oooof...I'd be a bit cross at this. And litigious. If they're charging you for the premise of securely storing your bike, they have a duty and responsibility to make sure it's secure.

Adding...Current shortlist is

Though not sure if brown hoods are available for this brake, which would sent me back to the drawing board with the saddle and bar tape conundrum.

Currently on a splurge on the parts to build up my impending black Bob Jackson arrival...Most of it's sorted (Black frame, gold writing, and the rest of the parts in anything loosely relating silver/chrome/etc....A road well trodden perhaps yet still fun for a novice like me....
Stuck on bartape/saddle/brake hood setups. Any places that accumulate a shitload of old bike photo's all in one place so I can mercilessly copy/take inspiration from another bike?
I'll probably be heading for a Brooks Honey saddle n tape, though what does one do to the brake hoods in such a scenario? Full White hasn't been outruled at this stage, though 'Uncle Bob' (full thread to come in builds once he gets here) is no European Rouabiax vet, more of a dignified English workhorse that happens to look quite handy if pushed...
Is this sort of thing in Debretts?

Any geared bicycle will be fine, Alfine also have their own chain tensioner too, so you don't need to limited yourself to bicycle with track end.
vertical drop out make it a lots easier IMHO.
It was my assumption sliding/horizontal droupouts would be preferable to an EBB as I'd imagine changing a wheel/tyre would be a whole lot easier?

I wish they'd hurry up and put the sky coffee mugs on there. The Amex won't wait forever....
It is a little bit funny, in that it it makes me want to think a little bit quick and buy the current/old range, just for the I was into Rapha before I became an advert for Rupert Cunting Murdoch. The range will only now get un-rapha-like.
Sulks at not getting the softshell when it was on offer
