For jeans...
Pure Blue Japan (5 mins away from teh main action)

Also check out Warehouse (if you're under 6ft or so) here

Blacows is ace for burgers, Tsukiji fish market for breakfast/brunch sushi.

Cheers all for the advice - Came back with some indigo's from Full Count, Evisu, Studio D'Artisan, a black pair from Momotaro, and a funky blue on blue pair from PBJ. Such great shopping over there - every shop made me try to convince myself the dream of double-denim being socially acceptable again...

Yeah...I did Arrenberg then the velodrome (2 years ago), and just the velodrome (last year)...Both great experiences, and could have even squeezed in the motorway spot between Arerenberg and the velodrome that year.
Tbh Arrenberg then the velodrome is very doable and you get a massive screen in the velodrome for the finale so would recommend. Understand that downtown Roubaix is closed road central so assume you'll be able to get 2 miles from the velodrome and do the 40 minute walk and get a spot.

Done the sportive for the last 3 years...You might as well stay in Lille (the chinatown-ish-y bit is much more preferable IMO - 10 mins walk to stations).
The coach isn't so arduous tbh...Bikes are well hung (ooo er) in a trailer (it's no London to Brighton skip).
The medium course is ridiculous - Arenbergs the first cobbled section. No-one deserves that as their baptism!
Doing it (all!) fixed is triple hard. There's no hills worse than a motorway bridge lump (maybe a bit of a medium and shallow sapper as you get into Roubaix outskirts?)
One thing I did find a pain, was out of date internet recommendations! Kissed a few frogs chasing stores that had since left the space - the above were all visited by me in person and so were there as of last weekend!
WIll update this post with any edits, though if you have endless time and feel the need, also have a google for Evisu, Samurai, Studio D'Artsan for any Tokyo stores - I didn't as I filled my boots in Osaka with those brands, though if a shop stores any of the brands mentioned, they should have other good bits in or be in an interesting area...
