My girlfriend's bike was stolen from the communal area of our friend's house this morning. Lower Clapton/Hackney Downs area.
Her bike is a Trek Soho, the model with carbon belt drive. I think the size was 51cm.
Did I hear from somewhere that there's a place in Clapton where lots of stolen bikes are being sold?
This picture is from google but it's basically this model: -

My journey times for commuting are normally under 30mins, and I always carry a bag with me, so the weight isn't TOO much of an issue.
Although a slightly different design, I've seen this version of the Brute Mini on sale here (model designation 5112). Is this the same one as recommended?
I guess it's just personal choice as they would seem to be similarly rated. Was just wondering whether the smaller lock would be a good decision because of the issue with bottle jacking. -
I've just ordered an Abus Granit X-Plus 54, and am deciding on the second lock. The OnGuard Brute seems a really good choice, but I have two questions:
1) Which of those would people recommend as primary (rear wheel) and secondary (front wheel) locks.
2) Would it actually be better to get the smaller OnGuard Brute *Mini *to guard against bottle jacking?

I have a general noob question about buying a 2nd hand steel road bike on a budget. I'm looking to get my first proper road bike (I have one, but it's 55cm c-c and I'm 6'4" or just under). I liked the idea of building up a bike from the frame, but I don't have much experience/knowledge esp. wrt. sourcing components, and I have heard that complete bikes can be as good/better value. So the question is how much should I aim to pay to get a bike with a good, light frame and a decent paint job? I'm in Berlin, no idea how that compares with London. Should I expect cheaper than this for example? The fm-1frame is triple-butted and the components are apparently shimano rx 100. Can I reasonably expect to do better by buying a frame + sourcing components? Or should I view that option as just a learning project?
Have you tried Velosaloon near Schleische Tor?

Apart from Brick Lane, where else is it usual to find stolen bikes being sold (in relation to the theft posted above!).
