I wanted an Octavia estate but we ended up with a Yeti as one came up that ticked all the boxes and was in budget. 1.2 TSI is peppy enough in town and good on fuel, but sometimes feels a little strained on the motorway (although fine.) Facelift models only had the 1.2TSI really, a few 1.4s are newer and out of our budget.
Major selling point is the room in the back seats is huge - very easy to take a child seat in and out, and comfortable for an adult of any height to sit in. We're also expecting (next week!) so wanted something my partner could sit comfortably in the back with a baby when it's very young.
Boot isn't as big as an estate, but a pram fits fine and it's easier to park. Higher up driving position is nice (we used to have a van).

Often good tyre shops will offer proper 4 wheel tracking, but they won't do general mechnical work.
I had our car serviced at the place on Dartmouth Road who seemed like honest guys. I know there's a place in Brockley that offers 4 wheel tracking but I've not used them. Wheelpower I think. You could always ask them about the drop links too.

Most definitions of austerity I've seen don't mention ideology. It's simply reducing deficit through spending cuts/higher taxation. Which is exactly what they're persuing?
I don't think they're necessarily persuing neoliberal policies, but it is austerity.
The criticism is that this is a choice. Classically, like Osbourne, it's being presented as something that isn't a choice - but it is. As others mentioned above they could choose to borrow. I don't know what motivates Reeves or Starmer, but presumedly some ideology does.

You can get it MOT’d up to a month earlier and keep the same end date for next year. I wouldn’t leave it until the day before personally.
Yes get serviced - it will help resale but also keep the car more reliable which is probably important if you’ve just had a new baby (congrats btw!)
I wouldn’t bother with main dealer for an 8 year old car especially if previous owners haven’t. You won’t make the money back in resale and it’s useful to have a relationship with a local garage for bits and bobs down the line.

Regardless of what we do about asylum, cracking down on the gangs is the right thing to do.
You can't seperate these things. The gangs are a result of a failed asylum system that goes back multiple governments and decades. The dangerous small boat crossings are a partial result of the crackdown on people entering on HGVs via ferrys/the tunnel. You can't just solve the issue with more policing and boarder enforcement.

In London we call that ‘usual wear and tear’ - honestly been to see a lot worse
