Actually quite liked school. Still hang out with lots of school friends and enjoy bumping into random old school friends with whom I had lost contact. Just because we'd lost contact doesn't mean I didn't like them.

Agree with Bothwell, DJ and Missmouse.
The most common excuse for RLJ-ing I get is that it doesn't affect me or anyone else. Wish they would stop long enough to consider that it actually does, as illustrated a million times reasonably above.Might cycle about in an apologetic sandwich board that gets the point across to would-be-RLJ-ers and motorists without me having to repeat it vocally.

5-0 offering free bike marking though.
Is that what they were doing? I thought they were busting some cyclists down. The one on the railings yelled out at me as I passed, no idea he was offering bike marking, it sounded a little like "OiyaHaftashmrgh" at the time".
A very confusing quarter of a second.

Guy on red and white road bike of some sort, New Cross Rd.
Constantly cutting up lorries, buses and vans. Swearing the whole way.e.g. On the junction outside New Cross Gate station. Attempts to squeeze through a tiny gap between a bus and a van, both stationary at the light (just about to turn amber from red), with about an inch either side. Lights change to amber, guy just manages to pass without clipping either vehicle. Immediately turns around calling both drivers 'Cunts, Fucking Cunts'.

The itch to replace it with a fixed gear is getting really bad though, I don't know if it's the look of them or just the idea of it. My question is, how realistic is it to cycle almost 40km a day on one? I'm pretty fit but I don't want to destroy the bike or my body in a few months.
It takes a little getting used to and it's a bit of a grind from the off, but you'll get used to it soon enough and will love it from day 2. I didn't commute by bike at all, but then got myself a plain old fixie and do 18 miles each way each day. If you're fit enough you'll be fine. Have fun :)
