Rained out for me on the club 10 tonight. I was planning on just doing a roadman effotr on the road bike with no aero gear but got so drenched on the way home from work, I just couldn't face riding out to the start, racing and then riding home again. Finished the fixed gear build in the conservatory and enjoyed a nice chinese and wine instead.

Broke bike down and removed all unnecessary components (saved for future restoration). It looks like I will get a good chainline by just mounting the inner ring in place of the big ring with some single chainring bolts. Does this sound right? I've tried holding a ruler against the chainring in position and it looks good on the hub. I draped a 1/8th chain over too and that looked good but it was too short to complete the chain.
The confusion over the model is due to somebody having rattle canned the frame in red but they masked off the decals beforehand. Evidence of that metallic sky blue colour from the 80s underneath. They did a bad job as there is evidence of red paint on the casette and spokes! Still it;s good enough for commuter duties and another layer of paint will help protect it. Its fine at a glance

10 is R10/17 Abergavenny to Raglan and back on A40 http://app.strava.com/activities/6718599#129197362 Best to watch on a bridge.
25 is R25/3L Neath Bank. Fastest 25 mile in the country? NOTE: Not the R25/7 as I previously stated. Sorry for confusion
50 is R50/1 Abergavenny to Monmouth 2 times on A40 http://app.strava.com/activities/3331472 Probably best to watch from a bridge over the A40. Theres a few.
100 is R100/1 Abergavenny to Monmouth 3 times http://app.strava.com/activities/3331481 again watch on bridges or Mitchel Troy back road stretch
12 hour is complex but involves most same roads from the above including more back roads http://app.strava.com/activities/3331485 (excuse the pitiful 200 miles. My arse was cut to ribbons. Hope for closer to 250 this year)

The Welsh champs events are all pretty much on the same network of roads. All based around Abergavenny and Usk area. I rode all distances last year except the 25 and enjoyed each one. I also rode the National 12 hour and the Welsh 12 definitely had the better atmosphere.
Regarding online events. Chek the events list here for a link in the online column. more and more promotors are using it now. Link is all South Wales district races for this year btw.

Currently winging it's way to me is this unknown Reynolds 501 tubed red pug. It was cunningly labeled as "Peugeot Vitesses". Seller obviously not versed in French. It's currently sporting Cinelli stem and Cinelli criterium bars, Sachs Huret Rival rear mech, Mavic Module E 700c rims, Nervar cranks, simplex shifters, weinmann brakes, 105 levers.
Can't for the life of me match the spec and frame decal colours to anything from the catalogues. Red frame with black decal never seems to occur. Always white decals. It's possible parts have been upgraded along the way. I'm not going to argue to cinelli bits hanging off of it.
Plans are to remove the mechs, rear brake, gear and brake levers and install a dirty harry on the bar tops. I've a planet-x AL30 black fixed/fixed wheelset and a 16t cog screwed on ready to go. Some fizik arione copy by planet X and some black matching bar tape. Can't wait to take delivery tomorrow and get it built up.
Any idea whether I'll get a good chain line on that chainset? Presume the wheelset is 42mm as it's a 120mm track wheelset.

I have a NOS wheelset I no longer need. I bought it with the intention of running tubulars for the 3 Peaks cross race but didn't compete in the end. Used a little on the turbo over winter but never been outdoors. Like new. Hubs run beautifully smooth. There's a Vittoria Corsa Evo tub taped onto the rear and its in good condition.
One minor point of note. Over winter while on the turbo, a table leg fell against the wheel and kinked one of the rear spokes ever so slightly. I corrected this by hand but you can just about feel it if you run your fingers up and down the spoke in question. No longer visible and does not affect use at all.
Hard item to put a price on but given Ultegra+Open Pro wheelsets seem to fetch 100, how does 80 quid sound. Sold
including postage? Anyone near Aberystwyth (I doubt it) is welcome to view or collect though. Also interested in swaps or trades for similar style fixed/fixed or flip/flop clincher wheelset.
Here we go then. Build complete bar trimming the brake cable and tightening the lockring when I borrow a tool. Just had a couple of quick spins around the cul-de-sac and position all seems good. Now I just need to learn to ride the thing. Foot retention in the form of SPDs will be coming once I'm comfortable with low speed maneuvering.
