That's interesting. I'm keto adapted, and on this ride (before breakfast, no fuel during) the numbers match up amazingly well: 1.54g of fat per minute over 2H24 would be 1996 kcal, and strava says I burned 1989.

Such a precise match must be coincidence though, I expect I used some stored carbs.

ok, noted. I'll put you down as ⅓ of a vote to change it to the 27th then. I won't change the date unless the 27th gets ahead by a few votes though, because date changes are annoying. @fasih, could you also make the 27th, or shall I put you down as one vote for the 20th ?

I now get everything as a track, split itup into out/back routes if there are any shared roads near the start/finish, or chunks based on days, and then display them on the map page, zoom it in to about 100m or so and then keep an eye on that.
I use TCX tracks, and the policy above is my fallback position for when I'm having a bad enough GPS receiver day that it thinks I'm in the bushes 100m east of the road and constantly "beep beep GO WEST" at me until I give up and Stop Course.
Other than that failure mode, I find that following a TCX track without any routable maps active (you can have a routable map set on the SD card for if you decide to attempt auto routing, just leave it disabled until you want it) works really well. The "off course" audible warnings are helpful, and I have "Course/Dist to Next" as a field on the data page, so I can get constant reassurance that I am not lost without needing to flick to the map screen.

A ride through all 32 London boroughs (and the City of London) ending at the statue of King Charles I in Trafalgar Square, the point at which you are 0 miles from London. We'll be departing from Sidcup Place at 0735 or thereabouts, we'll probably go as soon as the people on the train that comes in to Sidcup at 0726 get to the start.
If we take the same amount of time as last time then it will be getting dark as we finish, so bring lights to be on the safe side.
It's about 180km, mostly flat. This is a ride that waits for everybody, and last time there was a lot of waiting :) We averaged 19 km/h when moving, see strava for details.
There will be regular stops for food, drink and toilet:
- 28km: Tesco, Oldfields Rd Sutton, SM1 2NB
- 58km: San Remo Cafe, Northolt, UB5 6UR
- 81km: Tesco, Coppetts Center, N12 0SH
- 122km: McDonalds/KFC, Claps Gate Lane, E6 6LG
- 155km: Tesco, Shepherds Bush Rd, W6 7NL
My phone number is in the phone numbers thread. I'll be running the Real Time GPS Tracker Android app, if you have an android phone you can install this app and add "earthloop" as a friend and you'll be able to see where we are.

^ Hi Nick
Hope you're well. Eroica Britannia is on that weekend.Dammit, there are lots of things on Saturdays in June and July, it'll just have to clash with something. I really want to avoid clashing with another long ride type event, so it's going to have to be one of:
Saturday 20th June ( clashing with Eroica Britannia )
Saturday 27th June ( clashing with SPFG Race day & picnic )
I'll pick one in the next few days. If you could make one but not the other, please speak up now.
Would you be free for another fast spiral later in the year? Be good to catch up again.
Yes, we could do that.

i got really frustrated with the 800 telling me to ride across parks that had no cycling restrictions, and taking long convoluted routes, navigating for car reduced a lot of this
OSM maps ? If so you can fix the problem at source by heading over to http://www.openstreetmap.org, editing the map and putting Bicycles=no tags on the offending ways. Then wait a couple of days and download fresh maps.
I've adjusted the route to avoid the A312 Parkway (which is a motorway in all but name) without resorting to bumpy roadside cycle lanes.

Pretty much everything between 47.5km and 63km has changed, but we're still going to the San Remo Cafe because I didn't have an ice-cream last time and I plan to correct that mistake. Also, we no-longer have to lift our bikes over a fence.
