I've ridden 7 miles each way (South to Central) every day since Friday and it's been fine. The only hairy bit is riding across Clapham Common which hasn't been gritted. The snow on the paths has been compacted, melted and refrozen to a one-inch ice death sheet so I've been walking through that bit. Today I was faster doing that than another bloke who was doing a foot of wobbly cycling at a time before putting his foot down.
It's not even that cold.
What was Clapham like today? Thawed or still a rink? I avoided that route as I couldn't be arsed to deal with the ice there...

Question:
Value: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/dolomite-5-2013-road-bike-ec044213
Or
Beauty: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/genesis/equilibrium-00-2013-road-bike-ec044427
Also another quick one re group sets - the genesis has sora nine speed, meaning that if I want to upgrade, I can't do it by installments? For example by buying bits of 105 and gradually adding them on?
Cheers

Yeah I'm 6'1 so have missed out on the reduced ones. Noticed there is a new Dolomite four this year going for 750 - is that what you mean? Probably gonna hit that for a test ride soonish

Thanks for the pointers. Just missed out on this which was a serious kick in the teef

There's also Sensa - the Romagna Special which looks like decent value, but I'd have to pay up front and not test ride. Ideally looking for around £750. 1k is a little out of reach at the moment, sadly

Realise this is a much revisited topic, but it is a fair wedge and I'm a newb. Thx for advice!

Any thoughts appreciated on this:
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/moda/intro-2013-road-bike-ec043962
Seems like quite a good dealio, no? This would be for my first road bike - requirements are that I can test ride and being within range of 0% finance would also be a major bonus....
One of the few test rideable bikes I've seen with tiagra, but not sure on overall value... Seem to have missed the majority of the sales as I take a 58 frame size.
Thanks!

Posting again here, looking for some help:
I found an abandoned bike about 3 weeks ago and have been trying to reunite it with its owner. Called 101 (non-emergency police) only to be told that they don't deal with this...instead they seem to have given me the council noise abatement hotline...which I have yet to call...
Any advice? Trying quite hard to get this back to its rightful owner and have so far hit a bureaucratic brick wall!
It's blue, found in the Balham area and is pretty knackered looking if anyone is missing it....
Cheers

Found an old Cannondale on its side on Norgrove street in Balham today - anyone fancy helping me reunite it with its owner? Reported to police, told me to hold onto it until they can pick it up...not sure when that'll be, figured it might be quicker to ask around here. Think it may have been nicked and then ditched.
Resuscitating this thread...
Looking to upgrade my naff tektro caliper brakes to something that I can trust to do the job. Ribble currently have a set of 105s for £50, can I use them with Sora shifters?
Another factor is that I've only had the bike for literally two days - can I expect the performance of the tektro set to improve i.e. is there a bedding in period for Caliper brakes and new rims?
Or is it best to get some boss brake pads, as above?
Thanks for any advice....
