I did it once. It's like radial only it's easier on the spoke holes/flanges (good thing), and it creates a torsional force on the hub body (bad thing). I didn't die but the wheel was on a beater mtb that never went fast.

I also have a URT Trek Y bike. The stock Stratos shock was shit straight out the factory. The ride was completely different depending on whether you were standing or sitting. Standing up peddling on the Trek reduced the the efficiency of the shock loads. Sat peddling it wasn't to bad. Either sat or standing it bobs loads.

Been riding a 721 for 4 years now and it has been great and continues to be so. It's weird how touchy people get over them. The welds on the 721 are the same as those on a Dolan and Fuji track. That said, if you do get a Leader, get the 721 at about the same price as a Pre Cursa. No point in spending more.

Dosnoventa: straight up antiporn. I hate when manufacturers don't account for the chainring and it obscures the brand name on the down tube. And I also hate when they build ugly bikes.
