Really sorry but I can't work how to embed images.

- Change that massive brick of a stem and sort the stem spacers out
- Find a saddle that actually matches the colour scheme (black/orange Charge - ordered)
- Paint the rear rim black
- Take that God-awful crank off, soak it in Nitro-Mors, then spray it any other colour
- let Gaston and scoble be the final arbiters of the build
- get those 'maurice' stickers off
- Any road-style cheap black stem
- Colour ALL the orange bits black (except maybe the headset)
- chuck some compact drops (eg Bontrager SSC - VRC) and road brake levers on it
- mudguards?
- put a bottle cage on it
- get it in the bin (this is the last resort)
- Just learn to love it.
- Then bin it.
- raw the cranks, then polish them up
- paint over the sticker
- just wrap it in duct tape
- Nitromorz the everythingz
- Bin it
This is getting out of hand.

Thanks to lemonade for all the ideas.
The maurice 'sticker' is actually laquer, does it need Nitro-Mors on that as well? - Change that massive brick of a stem and sort the stem spacers out

so if enough of us say bin it, will the democratic process win?
As in most democracies, not many people actually have a say most of the time. You'll notice above I had anticipated this response, hence "I'll be putting the **best **suggestions into practice."
I won't be binning the bike, otherwise I'll have to join the London Strong Legs and Walking Boots forum instead.

- Linkpin Solstice
The word solstice comes from Latin solstitium or sol (the sun) + -stit-, -stes (standing). The summer solstice occurs when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer, which is located at 23.5° latitude North.

Helpful input so far (feeling slightly nervous about number 5, though).
Any suggestions for the stem? - Change that massive brick of a stem and sort the stem spacers out

I know a lot of people don't like the Maurice, but I need something solid to commute on while I build a 'proper' bike, and this has been doing me proud for the last couple of years.
That said, there's no excuse for it looking as it does now, so I'd like to hear people's suggestions for improvement; bear in mind the bike is used every day, but beyond that you can suggest anything you want. Rat build? Slave wannabee? I'll be putting the best suggestions into practice.
I'll start the list off myself:
- Change that massive brick of a stem and sort the stem spacers out
- Find a saddle that actually matches the colour scheme
- Ditch that rear rim for something that doesn't make me vomit, fuckwit
On you go.

The two policemen on those terrible police mountain bikes who've just pulled across the traffic in Delancey Street, Camden and through a No Entry sign, then shouted at the woman they nearly hit (for 'not looking'), and shortly afterwards at me for 'sticking your nose in' when I tried to explain to them what they'd done.
Perhaps if the sign had read 'Popo No Go'...
I'd like to keep the option, and I don't want to spend too much money on the bike because it'll hold back the build I really want to do on a new frame.
I do quite like the risers, actually, for every day riding. A nicer mtb stem is a good call, yes.
Definitely beginning to agree with this; I'll try it and if I don't like it I'll paint them over.
Thanks for the good ideas. I'll update the list.
