Hey
Hope you can help with some advice please.
My nephew has a birthday coming up and we're looking for a new bike for him.
Budget is an issue, as has been mentioned on previous threads kids grow out of their bikes pretty quick so its not worth spending a fortune on one!
We're looking at a 24" wheel and have a budget of £150.00 max.
I checked islabikes but they are out of our price range.
Went to Halfords today and thought that their Exile Jump Bike looked quite good value at £139.99 - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_780405_langId_-1_categoryId_254703
I know that their are some that don't like Halfords bikes but where else to look?
The local Raleigh store had bikes but they were all £200+
In my opinion gears and suspension are a waste on a kids bike, more likely to confuse and add weight when all they'll be doing is playing locally. Happy to listen to others opinions on this.
I also checked out a couple of second hand shops with little success.
So, any suggestions on where to look for a decent, well made, robust and relatively light weight kids bike at less then £150.00.
My sister is based in Beckenham and I'm in Brighton if anyone has anything second hand locally.
Thanks in advance!!

n3il - bike has 29,407 miles on the clock.
Currently on a SORN as I've been taking ages to replace the fork seals, now done but I'm still dicking about with it.
Not sure if I want to sell or not but my Guzzi is running so sweetly at the moment that I haven't bothered with the Suzuki for months.
Its bog standard with OE exhaust etc. Except for headlight which is currently a shitty twin jobbie - easy to revert back to stock I'm sure
Cheers

Check the other pages on that Halfords offer, page 3 has a B17 standard in black for £64.99 and a B17 standard in honey for [just] £54.99.
I'm interested in joining in your deal but I don't know enough about Brooks to make a decision on which saddle would work best for me.
What is the difference between a standard and a special?
I prefer the look of the swallow or the swift but assume I can cut down the B17 to look a like??
Cheers
Sorry for being a newb....

Hey n3il - when you say GSX750's do you mean the retro (ish) looking ones rather than the GSXR sports bikes or even the fully faired GSXF's?
If you mean the former I have one on an R plate in silver. Like this one: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/Suzuki/Suzuki-GSX750-1997-02-/
Nice bike, easy to ride, fast enough, reliable, comfortable.
I bought mine in an emergency - I was on my way to France and my bike blew up just outside of Dover - I had to get to France so I got the tow truck to drop me at a bike shop. The GSX was the only bike they had in my price range so I bought it and carried on my journey, bike did the job and has since been used for commuting come rain or shine as well as a few long trips to North Devon etc.
Its not going to set your world alight and I very much prefer my Guzzi over it, but as a winter hack and spare bike its been fine.
Might be interested in selling it if you are very interested.
Cheers

Quick thanks to Majsterjanek for the new frame that I picked up from him yesterday. What a nice bloke!
Its now back in Brighton where it used to reside (or so I was told)
Put it together last night and went for a quick spin to the shops, it felt amazing - so much better than my old Peugeot!!
Hoping to get out in a bit for a better test ride.
Couple of photos for you and a question.
To wrap the bars or not?
And of so, in what colour?
Thoughts?

Dibs the crank set please.
Slight issue with getting to London due to work commitments over the next ten days!
Happy to pay postage if you are cool with that?
PM coming, let me know
Cheers
