This year I redesigned my BTA bottle mount and it allowed me to get a lot lower on the front and "hide" behind my arms (comparison below). Last year it as all a bit last minute when I realized that my large bottles wont fit, and had to do a quick and dirty solution before my half ironman. Some other small changes : new rear disc, corsa g2.0 now matching on the rear, custom grip at the end of extensions housing the shifer that gives me a more comfortable grip, longer reach by moving pads forward.
In this new position I averaged 38.6km/h over 87.5km, with only 205W. Now, the obvious low hanging fruit is to actually train properly for the next one. And then there are some others like a TT helmet, better skinsuit (better than LFGSS one?! Impossible!) figuring out the impact of my bento box...etc.
I quite like the idea of aero testing, and Im seriously playing with the thought of buying an Aerosensor. I love data analysis, and just the whole technical aspect of it is fascinating. More of a hobby purchase to spend my time than a justified "I need this to be faster" one. I'll also set a goal of X km's trained on the TT bike before I pull the trigger...
I want to make sure that I'll have a proper spot where I can go back again and again, but I live in central London. Any ideas? I found this stretch of road near Rainham, takes me 20m by train to get there, and hopefully theres a time of the day when it isnt that busy. I'll probably check it out next week.
Last but not least, if I purchased one, anyone interested in renting it at a very sensible price? I dont know what that pricepoint is, but in a setup where people could take it more than once to go back and test new things..etc. Not to profit, just to get back some of the costs and make it more accessible.

Im too old to use the word yeet, but its the best way to describe how I just watched a runner yeeting himself into traffic like a lemming, without checking even the slightest to his sides around Regents park. Cyclist few metres infront of me did a miracle save (and slight shoulder check) not to hit the guy with full force.
But if he did hit him im sure it'd be all over the papers...

Great, thanks for the info! To remove the pigtails (it is a small frame) I could just open the coupler & the bleed port on the lever ensuring the lever is in a higher position than the coupler & drain it, right? Then once I removed that bit of hose from the shifter, I just carry on as if they werent there to begin with.

I want to install hydro disc brakes for the first time, but not the last. I havent got the specific tools, but would like to buy them so that I can do this anytime in the future. Below is a picture of what I have (GRX-400 set).
Though they come pre-bled, I assume I will have to cut them to size if I want a lot of excess cable in the front. What tools do I need & what tools will make my life a lot easier doing it? I have a 3D printer for any useful printable stuff.
Need:
8mm metric open end spanner wrench
Gloves, rags, isopropyl alcohol
Olive needle driver / hose cutter (read good things about this ZTTO over at Escape, in terms of value for money)
Bleed kit - any recommendations?
Shimano mineral oil
Shimano hose fitting needle - I think I'll be cutting off the preinstalled one when im cutting the hose short
Shimano olives - I think I only need this if I were to remove the cable from caliper in the futureAm I missing anything?
Looking at their serials it looks very much like the calipers are interchangable, is that right? Having grown up outside of the UK, I am planning on connecting the brake levers on the correct side :)

Its a side-channel of the danube, right by the event venue:
For ~2/3rd of the way the current works for you, then you turn and it works against you for the last third. I think its a really nice experience especially for beginners, because theres well enough space no matter how slow/fast you are, you arent losing much time by getting out of the way.

Went back again to the Challenge Championship this year with a men's relay for the middle distance, and also done the olympic distance solo the day before.
The olympic distance was nice, this year I wasnt gonna push myself considering I had a 90k time trial ahead of me the next day. I caught up with my friend on the run (our swimmer in the relay & my brother's coach), and we caught my brother on the last 3k. He is pretty new to the sport, and this was first ever olympic distance, and we paced him in for a sub 3h result which he was very happy with.
On Sunday all three of us did exactly as planned. We wanted to place 3rd, as every year there are two teams of VERY strong athletes that are doing relays. Our swimmer did 31 minutes, I started the bike 2 minutes behind the current 3rd place relay. By the time I got off the bike after 2:17, we were in 3rd place, leading with 2 minutes. Our runner then extended this to over 4 minutes, stopped for a world record 1m37s shit, then got our lead back to ~3 minutes, and came in with 1:29.
We placed third with a 4:21:40, and only need to shave off 30 minutes from our time for next year if we want to contest the top 2 teams :D Interestingly the overall best relay team was a mixed one. The individual pros and AG athletes did insane times, its a really fast course even with all the running in the transitions.
Not bad considering I trained an average of 3.25h / week this year on the bike. Back again next year!

I run into this all the time. Fast lane, ok, fast is relative. 20 minutes ago my 2:10 100's were the fastest in the pool with all lanes having 2 people faffing about in them, except the fast lane which was empty.
On the bright side, it usually takes me no more than 50 metres to know my place and switch lanes when the faster ones show up :)
But also talking with people usually works. If there's a leisure swimmer doing 3:30s in the medium lanes where 2 of us would be working faster, theres nothing wrong just tapping them and asking them to switch lanes.

Went for a swim at Mile End Leisure centre and when I came out I saw a very nice boardman with zipps and ultegra, along a kids bike just... laid against the rails, the lock not locking onto anything.
Locked my bike to it and found the owner inside, they took their kid for a swimming lesson but forgot their lock keys at home, so I waited around 10min until they finished. Incredibly brave. One might say even silly.
