I have read somewhere that the crown race does not reach the bottom of the steerer leaving a gap between the headset and fork. Do the specialised have some kind of rubber seal that creates this gap on non integrated headset?
I've put 3,000 miles on my road bike with this gap, never had any issues. Requires a clean more often as grit can more easily enter the gap between headtube and fork but otherwise fine.

If you see a bike you think has been abandoned (it needs to look abandoned, not left by someone who has gone on holiday/into hospital - so missing tyres/rust/no back wheel etc), you can register your interest with the police, you then attach a note to the bike to this effect - if after a period of time (which I forget, perhaps a month) the bike is still unclaimed - get chopping.
If this was possible I would start cleaning up. I pass several pretty nice half-stripped bikes on my walk to the station each morning. Some have been there for a few months, a Klein frame has been there for over two years.
Whenever I'm out and pass a station I see several stripped frames that are worth a few quid, or would be if restored, that have obviously been sat there for ages with a cheap d-lock holding them in place.
I wonder what the oldbill would do if I started 'tidying up' bike racks around London of stripped frames.

Righteous riding is hidden away, lost within the wobbling impatient hordes of the cycling dead
I don't agree with this.
Whenever the subject of cycling comes up with my mates, many of whom drive for a living, after the standard road tax nonsense dies down they usually acknowledge that there are two types of cyclist. This isn't something I've put into their heads, they've all reached this conclusion independently during the countless hours they spend driving their bus or van for a living.
They hate the wobbling zombies and wannabe skidders that ignore the rules of the road. Conversely, they acknowledge that there are cyclists who act in a predictable manner and don't add stress to their already hellish jobs (I cant imagine driving for a living, they all hate it).
Keep riding well, you won't be acknowledged for doing this but the cabbies, couriers and bus drivers* will quietly respect you for holding your line, not filtering up their left side and not RLJing.
*there are of course exceptions, some people are just cunts.

Higher cadence - Hard to explain (because I'm shit at explaining) but virtually every aspect of cycling has improved by upping my cruising cadence to around 100rpm.
I've found this as well.
To offer an extremely subjective analysis; I feel more efficient cruising at 100rpm than I do at 80rpm for a given speed.

I'm fairly sure that Teddington now has secure bike parking with access cards, installed in the last few weeks (I only use the station occasionally).
You're also guaranteed a seat from Teddington but definitely not from Kingston (I get the train to Waterloo at about 7am)
