My Roclites are 9mm. I was personaly thinking of going with a 3mm drop for a mixture of trail, and off trail (pine wood with exposed roots and rock). But maybe a 6mm drop would be more wise?
I would go for a safer 6mm tbh if you plan to run into the woods :)
I am trying to get more into trail/off-road running too but crap... In London it's not that easy. I am sure I'll get bored of Hampstead Heat after a while.

I am around 200 miles and it's all good. I tried the switch because my knees were not too happy about the heel strike and this is solving the problem for now.
I started with small 1 mile slow runs (2-3 times to get used) and then started to do more every time.
If you run let's say 3-4 times a week you can try with just 1 a week fore/midfoot in the beginning. -
I suggest you to go for a 4mm drop shoes and not a 0mm drop in the beginning.
And try to switch with small frequent runs to get the calves muscles used to the new movements, it's bloody painful in the beginning.
I started the switch to forefoot running with a pair of Brooks PureCadence and apart from the awful colors they come with I found them pretty good. And if you didn't already, watch this:

So I run my first half (RunToTheBeat, shitty event, awful organization, not impressed) and broke my Garmin before the start. Literally frozen. So I couldn't pace myself in a proper way.
After the start I knew I was between the 1:45 and 2:00 pacers and just tried to catch up with the 1:45 one for all the time but concentrating on having a good stride since my knees are not the best ones you can find around.
In the end it was a 1:50 for me, I was aiming exactly at that and I would have been happy with anything sub 2h begin the first one.
I found the distance very pleasant. Challenging but doable and I cant' wait to try another one, but it will be for febraury/march I think. I'll stick to my 10-12k and some ParkRuns during the winter.
