Is it just me with the Vauxhall gyratory plans (apart from the fact that they don't look that great), but the section underneath the bridge at which the last poor sod was killed, isn't on that plan (as I understand it, its near the Bondway depot, to the west of the station, underneath or close to where the rail lines cross).

From the side ticker on BBC London:-
Boy, 8, seriously hurt in crash 09:17:
A collision in Barnet has left an eight-year-old boy in a life-threatening condition in hospital, the Met Police have said.
Officers were called at about 20:15 yesterday to reports of a bus and a child in collision on Chesterfield Road, The boy, who was riding a bike, suffered head and leg injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 020 8991 9555. -
I don't know whether the Standard has changed this since it was posted 8 hour ago, but is currently saying that the poor chap hit a stationary Boris Bike distribution van - which would be the dock opposite St Thomas's Hospital. I guess it was parked in the cycle lane, but the road is reasonably wide at that point. It isn't somewhere I would expect to be a collision hotspot or anything.

A female cyclist in her 50s has been taken to St George's Hospital with a serious injury after being hit by a car at 1.45pm today. Fingers crossed for her: http://www.kingstonguardian.co.uk/news/11207169.Woman_cyclist_in_her_50s_hit_by_a_car_in_Kingston_town_centre/
Turns out the poor lady that was hit (near the pedestrian crossing) was a 61 year old pedestrian and that the bicycle lying on the road, was undamaged and left there by a good Samaritan cyclist who had stopped to help her (there is a well used cycle lane at that crossing point).

From the Standard this morning - sounds like he is okay though. It isn't that bad a road usually, but everything is so much more congested with the tube strike and everyone is impatient.

Sounds like you work where I do ^
Grosvenor Place.
Look out for mad lady in black, red lipstick, on black Brompton S type. Various woolly hats at this time of year.
I did wear some fluoro today though, just the vest over normal black coat as I knew it might be quite busy. I apologise for my lack of sartorial elegance.

Closed access off Parliament Square to Victoria Street northbound, for the pavement widening works outside Westminster Abbey, was really not helping this morning. Lots of pedestrians everywhere outside Waterloo, so I walked bike down to the road and then got on, rather than coasting down the hill. Boris Bike racks were nearly empty at 07:50.
Main traffic lane on Westminster Bridge was solid, probably back to the St Thomas's Hospital lights at least. Thank god for the bus lane. If the roadworks hadn't been on Parliament Square, wouldn't have been much worse than normal.
Birdcage Walk northbound was okay as no commercial vehicles allowed anyway (I usually go down Tothill Street and by St James Park station), but southbound was one long queue of cars and taxis all the way back to Buckingham Palace.
All in all not really that bad, but then I am in leafy SW1, I imagine it might be worse in the City.

From the BBC Local Live sidebar:-

Paramedics were called to the scene at 12:23. The woman, who was riding a Barclays Cycle Hire bike, was taken to Charing Cross Hospital but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening injuries, said London Ambulance. -

Annoying light rain okay, had taken the sleeves off my convertible rain jacket as it was too hot and skin is waterproof and all that. Lifted left hand to signal I was slowing down into the taxi bay outside the office, just after the bus stop, and 'crack, bang, flash' and the heavens opened. I wobbled a bit but was thankfully slowing down. Sorry if I put off anyone behind me by wobbling but it did make me jump!
Rain started 08:00, stopped 10 minutes later. Then the sun came out.

Interestingly, the truck used in the recent 'Exchanging Places' event at Cardinal Place, Victoria, was a Keltbray tipper truck (very frequently spotted around here).
I have seen them driving at ridiculous speeds around here and clipping pedestrian refuges at speed. It is a bit of a contradiction - but maybe it is driver specific?

Cross fingers it isn't a cyclist. Though it could also be a pedestrian with the crossings there.
BBC Travel say it is re-opened after an 'accident' but no mention of the type of vehicle. They do often say 'between a van and a cycle' or something similar, so hopefully it was just cars cutting each other up or something.

Literally 'oh shit' moments the last few mornings.
The contraflow cycle lane on Petty France goes past Wellington Barracks. Horseguards are based there and take the horses out at 4-5 in the morning.
The cycle lane isn't very wide, kerbs both sides (so you can't swerve out), and has piles of horse shit every 6 foot or so.
At least on Birdcage Walk, the road is wide enough to shoulder check and then swerve round the shit.

Was just checking the BBC Travel News before I head home and came across this one which is close to home for me.
Without being there I can only assume that a van pulled out of somewhere as it is a pretty straight bit of road - but pretty busy. There is a plumbers shop just after Edward Road near the main road junction and vans are in and out of there all the time. There is also a width restriction on Park Road close to Edward Road.
Hope the person is okay.
