There is a big development going on straight across and to the left on Horseferry Road. Previously there weren't that many of those types of vehicles crossing Lambeth Bridge; they'd mainly use Vauxhall. I used to use Lambeth quite a bit but the sudden increase in tipper trucks behind you on a narrow bridge was horrid.

It is narrow across there and there are more lorries as of late - I think due to the construction work off Dean Ryle Street.

This is a very nasty piece of narrow laned road which was reduced from 4 to 2 lanes as part of the Victoria Station upgrade several years back. The whole section of road is like a tunnel - both sides are enclosed by barriers and walls so there is absolutely nowhere to go if you get into a bad situation. There are also building sites on both sides of the road. I avoid it completely but if you don't know the area and just follow the main road, you can't even change your mind and stop alongside the road, and walk onto the pavement. I work just round the corner from here and have had a couple of family members call to make sure I'm okay.
Thoughts to the riders loved ones, family and friends.

It is now in the Standard that a 40 year old man lost control descending Broomfield Hill. It does not say what actually killed him but it does mention that he was wearing a helmet and his estimated descent speed was 15mph.
Given this is a Standard link, probably best not to read any comments that roll in.

Just went to get my lunch, road closed southbound outside House of Fraser, just before the Buckingham Gate junction. Buses 211 and 24 pulled up on left hand lane, Epsom Coach in right hand lane. Several police cars and ambulances. Air ambulance was landing somewhere behind Westminster City Hall. Did not want to hang around and gawp, so could be motorcyclist, cyclist, or pedestrian.

Unconfirmed reports from someone in the office and slightly second hand, that there is a cyclist down on Grosvenor Place. By the look of the traffic outside (I work further up Grosvenor Place and traffic is solid northbound, but nothing is coming down the road southbound). Possibly something happened coming off the roundabout.
I cycle down here every morning and generally don't have too many problems as there is space to overtake.

Correct. The handle of the standard frame in theory fouls the brake cables, though lots of people do it. It isn't the bag so much as the frame.
I use a Demano bag that is designed to fit a standard height frame with the shorter S bag frame fine. Just not so much space for your hand when removing it from the bike.

One of the main reasons I started using Lambeth Bridge is because the road surface on Bridge Street, outside Westminster Station, is totally and utterly sh*t. You're in the middle lane surrounded by taxis and coaches all wanting to turn left onto Victoria Embankment and bumping around all over the place. Not nice. I do a little back roads route from Hyde Park Corner via Vincent Square and Marsham Street and pop out onto Horseferry Road and away. Not far but the road surface is generally much more pleasant.
In the morning I cycle the other way from home and get on an empty Piccadilly Line train at LHR, then get off at South Kensington and ride along the South of Hyde Park, out and round the roundabout (takes too long going throught the two sets of cyclist lights on Wellington Arch).

No worries will just shout hello! A ped walked out backwards into the bus lane last week without looking so her friend could take a photo of her. Moron!
You weren't on Westminster Bridge were you? Horrendous for that. Must get Big Ben in the background = must step out into cycle lane backwards without looking.
I usually ride in primary in the bus lane if I can, but at this time of year its full of those stupid open top things going slower than even me. And I'm on a 2 speed Brompton so not going very fast.
Have taken to going over Lambeth Bridge and back up by St Thomas's Hospital to get to Waterloo lately to avoid.
