mt500 look like wellington boots! heard they are good for when its wet though
endura pro slick dont keep any water out underneath as the whole overshoe is held in place by a single elasticated strap. as soon as it rains hard the water just comes in they are splashproof though and very light so useful in a jersey back pocket
mavic h2o pro looked cool but the cut around the ankle was too low leaving socks exposed
mavic h2o trail currently on test!
endura deluge good waterproofness but flimsy turns out 4 pairs went back for the same fault including 1 in a bigger size
endura luminite crap annoying velcro and not really waterproofbloody overshoes... the bane of my commute

ordered the hubs, actually quite nervous about them as my mechanical knowledge is toilet yet according to the chris king maintenance guide i need to ride them for a bit and then check everything is ok gulp. do the folk that have these find they need any babysitting, are they easy to adjust etc
sorry for the late reply oswald but i think it would be best to have a chat with him yourself about your requirements. the one common theme across all the wheel builder folk i spoke to is that shimano dura ace is rock solid and perhaps the most reliable choice of all the hubs. bold statement? this is purely down to the volume of hubs they manufacture with the only downside being that the freehub is not a replaceable part (in the eyes of shimano)

response from strada
Hi Splutter
Thanks for taking time to get in touch with us. I would suggest the A23 wheelset for you - it is light, stiff and super comfy on longer rides. They are £891.00 with the superb Chris King R45 hubs (ceramic bearings +£100) built with bladed Sapim CX Ray spokes and A23 rims in black, silver or white.

They have just been awarded Editors Choice in C+ magazine against Mavic Kysrium Elites which is great news and we have plenty of riders reviews on our blog too:

http://www.stradawheels.co.uk/shop/chris-king-r45-road-hubs/We have just taken the first delivery of the H Plus Son Archetype rim. This is slightly deeper section rim at 25mm but the same 23mm wide as the A23. It is a modern looking design and the same high build quality as other rims from H Plus Son. Add £22 to any quote for a build using the Archetype. We will have a pair for testing available as well which you are welcome to try.

Every wheelset is hand built to match your specific requirements. Delivery is 1-2 weeks subject to parts availability, payment by card or BACs, quote valid for 30 days. Strada free true for life policy included. Delivery via TNT with live client tracking worldwide. If you have any questions or want to chat wheels do get in touch with us.
Kind regards,

lol..
the wheel builder is harry rowland and by all accounts he is fantastic!
velocio do you have the r45 or the classic? will defo have a chat with brixton about thisttm these are my "best" wheels so think 28 front 32 rear with mavic open pro and laser spokes if possible but this is my first pair of custom wheels and harry was talking about different options for about an hour. after 5 minutes my eyes had glazed over and i was drooling slightly.

hello
i did utfs but didnt find anything relevant so hope someone can help.
im looking at getting some wheels built for my road bike initially going with chris king hubs. i spoke to my wheelbuilder who said ck hubs werent very good as he had had 5 seperate incidents where the hub had broken and in spite of the warranty ck blamed the wheel builder and over tensioning of the spokes as the reason for the failure.
he said get phil wood hubs they are bulletproof but getting road hubs is pretty tought without buying em direct from phil wood in the usa which means getting done over by hmrcsoooo
does anyone on here have ck r45 hubs and are they any good? if not should i just stick with good old shimano dura ace
thanks

With all due respect but you have the biggest clue as to what is potentially coming....The junction on your left!!!!!!!
If you see a left hand turn, then the chances are there will be someone looking to pulling across your lane. Expect it and get no surprises.Couldnt agree more. i do not cycle down this road merely making an observation from the few times ive walked down it to stockwell tube
-

this happens every day on that horrible route. cars queing all down the a3 heading towards stockwell tube. and cars coming the other way want to turn down the side road, the waiting car indicates its safe for them to turn and they do so without even checking to see if any cyclists are coming. basically avoid cs7 its a joke, and its dangerous.

If you want to know more about bike fitting then go to the Steve Hogg website . Scherrit is one his approved fitters.
They are also giving away his DVD with one of the fitness cycle magazines just not, though I think its only available in Waitrose..
BTW - Steve does not work by formulas...
The Dave Moulton bike fit chart - is also ,I find, worth a look.
agreed. scherrit was using some steve hogg techniques

I can't believe a wheel purchasing decision is being made based upon sound over any other factor.
if it's genuinely going to be used for commuting, hed3s are super-bombproof, and give good wom. But I wouldn't commute on wom personally*.
Wom matters! Just gauging opinion really for when my current wheelset dies which looks to be quite soon.
