Innit. Not really that easy to apportion blame to everybody else when you're standing in the middle of the road surrounded with the carnage you've just caused.
Anyhow, I am going to take up TTM's suggestion of using hand signals when slowing. I used to do this but stopped because I felt a bit weird doing it on my commute. I'd rather feel a bit weird than hospitalise random people, though.
I indicate... however, I was indicating hand back - slow down whilst going past a bike accident with police and ambulance in attendance and I had 3 lycra clad lads overtake me putting themselves into oncoming traffic. I think one of the lads was even over taking the one overtaking me. Sometimes people just have to get past...

This was further south, just before the Stockwell Tube, near the drive-in to the estates (heading north).
Went past at 8.45. Solo rider in the middle of the bus lane, seated and holding onto his left shoulder. Motorbike police man was there and talking to him. I pulled up and offered help. Policeman said that ambulance has been called and there wasn't anything to do. The rider seemed ok although shaken and a bit dazed. Black Surly? fixed bike looked ok resting on the footpath. Big messenger bag looked ok too resting on the road next to rider. Thoughts and best wishes with the rider.

Rhowe / Howard just wanted to say thank you again for your advice. Rhowe thank you for reading my draft email and responding so quickly. You'd be glad to know it's all been resolved well. Bike fixed and I'm getting there. Still have a few physiotherapy sessions. At any rate the guy's insurance sorted everything. Dropping a small donation to the forum as a thank you to all the links and advice. So - Thank you.
