I was riding through a village and i heard a motah approaching from behind. Naturally there were three others (a small lorry, a van and a car) approaching from in front, so this one from behind was gonna have to wait for a chance to get past. Without me really noticing, the vehicles coming from ahead slowed down, and then i saw them pull to the side of the road just as i was getting to them.
As i pass, the van driver says, "get off the road".
I think, "fakh off, you cant!"
Ambulance overtakes me with lights flashing but no siren.
Oh shit.A few minutes later when i get home (much to the relief of the villagengers) i see the air ambulance flying over my head, broadly from the direction of The Incident. Ohhh shit.

Tesco (of all places) are selling lovely, Riv-esque bike bells. The mount is weather proof and will fit any (i mean any) bar, stem or top tube. It's even reflective. They come in a choice of colours, and for less than £4. Find them in the pet aisle (for some unknown reason).

I have a new back wheel (an OTP Weinmann DP18 rim jobbie that the LBS ordered in for me especially (without me specifying any details other a need to have it double soon and a preference for a fixed-fixed flippity flopper (1 out of 2)))
Having got it home i now see that the rim's interior width is 12.4mm. My current tyre options are:
a 32mm Marathon Plus,
a 35mm Marathon Winter, or
an old, and by now seemingly terribly puncture prone Conti SportContact 28mm.
[/INDENT]¡Another fine mess!
¿I'd like to use my Marathon Plus tyre (it's about 8 days old), but is it safe/wise to use it on such a narrow rim? I may as well lob that Marathon Winter??

For a charger something like this
http://www.batterylogic.co.uk/technoline/technoline-BL700.aspwith hybrio batteries
Just bought one of these to give to my considerably older brother as a birthday present. Do you think an adult male human would like to receive such a thing, or would they be bemused and mention it [regardless of the particular quality of the charger itself] whenever they get asked *'what's the worst present you've ever received?' *? I heard that males like to receive gadgets, but is this no better than giving someone a steam iron? I have no reason to believe that he uses a particularly large amount of batteries.

While uploading something else to flickr just now, i noticed this old screen grab in 'my pictures'. When i wrote to halfords to tell them there was a typo in the 'Bike repair service' box and that i was going to email it to Private Eye, they replied and told me the prices really do start at £3.99. Hislop never published it.

Wiggle annual survey 2012, question 1: "Which activity do you consider to be your primary sport?"
'Messing about' wasn't one of the available answers.
I kept writing tranSPORT in the "Other (state)" fields. I probably won't get a £10 off a £50 order voucher.
Also had a look at the howies website earlier, and 'sport' was all over that as well.

I also know that I really want to be able to rely on the tools I carry with me.
i have a few ideas knocking round my head involving some nice brass key chains and tools/knives etcSo I want to see some pictures of what you keep in your pockets.
I'm not talking about iphones, just awesome things that you keep on you at all times
i guess maybe some 'everything in my pockets' type photos would be good?
Nothing awesome. Mostly quite shit, in fact:
- Shit phone (it doesn't have a camera, so it can be in the picture)
- Keys on a shit carabiner (the latter was added to my pocket today; it was the only part of my Vapur anti-bottle that didn't fall off my bike)
- Gum
- Swiss Army Knife (with one tool not showing because i can never get it out)
- Scraps heading for the recycling bin [back left pocket]
- Dog shit bags (unused) [back right pocket]
- John Lewis 3-pocket card holder. I thought this was pretty good until i saw this thread...
