Good stuff Pandah, thats a very smart looking build. Is that the colour an aerospk is unfinished?
I just picked up a matt black pre cursa from the forum and am planning how to dress her. Its a bit of a blank canvas. There's a photo on google of a proper ninja build - all black expect the saddle rail and gatorskin logos. It's a good effort but has less character than your build. The stuff im gathering is all black too but I'm wondering whether adding a different colour bar tape and saddle would add to the look or be too crass. Hmm.

A lot of people going south on Bishopsgate this week - weaving all over the place, no shoulder checking/indicating and constant under-taking.
I can't be arsed to move up to the ASL any more round there. Let them fight it out when / before the lights change. I reckon I'm safer with the busses and vans.
Fortunately most are riding on the pavement at the moment because of the road works.

If navigation isn't your thing, the national cycle route 4 is signposted all the way. I've done the section from Bath to Bristol, it is cracking and I've been told the rest is okay. It'll be slower going than country roads but better than the A4. Admittedly I've only driven the A4 but I don't fancy riding it.
Back country roads would be my preference, but with a gps (I'm not old enough to remember paper maps).

I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing about joining this ride for ages. I reckon it'll be manageable and even fun if we can avoid a northerly wind. Did you guys settle on a route?

^^ a mate of mine bought the Gelert and said exactly the same thing about being over six foot
I bought this off the back of the reviews posted on Amazon. Its low tech and cheap, which ticks a few boxes, but might turn out to be crap. I'll be using it this weekend and report back...
High Peak Minilite Two Man Tent:Amazon:Sports & Leisure
Result - Was okay in the drizzle we had over the weekend. There's enough room for a tall person, plus panniers but getting in and out is a squeeze. Light, very cheap and packs up really small so that's me sorted.

I used this thread to put my own London to Portsmouth route together so cheers everyone.
[ame]http://connect.garmin.com/activity/170468151[/ame]
A few notes:
It isn't the nicest ride, this was a dry run for getting the ferry in the summer rather than a recreational. I avoided a few hills by going through built-up areas instead; I'll be going slowly and with camping kit next time.
I added about 10km on to the route to avoid the A3 and other dual carriageways where I could, the B2070 at Petersfield was probably the worst bit for fast traffic but I never felt unsafe.
Drivers in Portsmouth aren't very cyclist-aware and all the other cyclists we saw stuck to the pavements. There does seem to be a reasonable cycle path network to avoid the busier roads that I'm going to look into.
Lunch stop at the Pride of the Valley pub before Liphook - food was cracking.WC

I audbily yelped on Bishopsgate this morning as a chap on a shiny blue and white Cinelli attempted to undertake a left-turning big-arsed lorry before managing to swerve right and not go into the back of it or into me. Shortly followed by cool-as-beans track standing at the next lights. Good skills sir!

Not sure I trust the cycling calorie stats either, as my cycle computer reckons I burn half as much on my commute than my fitness pal.
Calorie counters aren't perfect but helped educate me on the basics: I'm better off commuting by bike every day than nailing 100km at the weekend, exercise doesn't entitle me to a take-away pizza and a four-pack and fresh veg is the key. Usually a few 100 calories down each week but not losing much weight, which I put down to muscle growth : )
