Overtaking stationary traffic on Green Lanes, Newington Green the other morning, not too fast. From inbetween some of the queuing flies a loaf of Kingsmill Best of Both about six inches in front of my face. Medium sliced. At head height it would have definately knocked me off into the oncoming traffic lane if it had hit but it was so odd that I burst out laughing and rode on.
It was only when I got to work that I thought 'Oh shit' and that I really should have stopped and done some shouting. -

Anyone been to this? Any good? I might head over one lunchtime this week.

We're all here to enjoy our riding, wether you wear or not wear a helmet, a Giant Bunny suit or ride to work on an Elephant....... so enjoy your ride, be as safe as you always have been, with no shadow glances to those that wear and those that don't....... We have the Liberty of choice, personally, I'd rather keep the Liberty for that very reason........ I may get castigated for this moderate eutopia type thinking, it's a personal opinion and nothing more...........
Having just bought a bike for my commute I now really want an elephant instead. Are they allowed in bus lanes? (I would use a helmet)

Sounds fun and I think it's time to pop the forum ride cherry. I'll be single speed unless I learn to ride fixed between now and then.

I had an accident in 1996 and it took me till last year to get back on a bike. It was cycling on holiday in France that made me start again. When I got back to London I was sh*t scared of cylcing near traffic so I stayed on the back-street blue-sign-posted cycle routes (free maps from the TFL website), all hi-vis and lights. That helped me get comfortable with cycling again.
Last year's ride looked great. Did anyone ride back? This is during the 'limpics; bring race numbers so we can use the dedicated advertising executive lanes.
